Random Thoughts Do we really want Obama in the White House?
Obama Explains National Anthem Stance
Hot on the heels of his explanation for why
he no longer wears a flag pin,
presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama
was forced to explain why he doesn't
follow protocol when the National Anthem is
played.
According to the United States Code, Title
36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During
rendition of the national anthem when the
flag is displayed, all present except
those in uniform are expected to stand at
attention facing the flag with the
right hand over the heart.
"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't
want to be perceived as taking sides,"
Obama said. "There are a lot of people in
the world to whom the American flag is
a symbol of oppression. And the anthem
itself conveys a war-like message. You
know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It
should be swapped for something less
parochial and less bellicose. I like the
song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to
Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might
salute it."
WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this
could possibly be our next president. I, for once, am
speechless . . .

When we say we have morales and values.
does that make a person more judgemental of others,
and prejudice.judging someone for the way they present their self,
without knowing who they really are.
My values are the deep love I have for family,
a deep belief in God,
and deep rooted honesty.
which may not always be a good thing.
sometime maybe honesty isn't always the right
thing ,when it hurts others.
I also value myself,accept myself.
see both the shortcomings, and the good things,
and at the end ,
I see the imperfect woman I am.
and I realize that I am human.

Today I have come to realize
that I am more judgmental of others
than I think,
and that I hold grudges at times.
I really need to try to improve on how I feel

Random Thoughts
I have given a lot of thought today about myself,
my own mistakes,and words,
trying to offer advice, give my thoughts and views,
hoping to be helpful,
but I am not sure that has been the result.
Words can be a knife to the heart.
and as I look back.
I have come to realize,
that perhaps I should stay the silent observer.
Let everyone that I love
make their own mistakes.as I make mine.
learn consequences if that is what it takes,
and Perhaps I'll stand quietly in the shadows,
only as a observer as they fight their wars
and struggles.I 'm sure I will hurt when they hurt,
and cry silent hidden tears, but only I will know.
Sometime it seems I only put a wedge between myself
and those I love when trying to help,
trying to give advice.
trying to use my life experience and my mistakes
to guide others into a better direction
than the path I walked on in my life,
Not always the perfect mother.or grandmother,
falling very short.
I sometimes see myself as being judgmental.
when I am not in the position to be a judge of anyone.
The choice of who to love is a choice of the heart,
not my choice to make.
Who is to say that one should chose wisely ,
if it means sacrificing love?
Little update on rebate
Taxpayers who choose direct deposit on their federal income tax returns can expect to receive their economic stimulus payments between May 2 and May 16 provided their returns were received and processed by April 15, 2008. For taxpayers who did not choose direct deposit on their tax return but whose returns were processed by April 15, the paper checks will be in the mail starting May 16, with the initial mailings completed by around July 11. another words don't count on it until July..haha
Insert in the news from this article that is definitely humorous.
Ethics laws deliver changes in reality, perception of state
By Mike Hasten
mhasten@gannett.com
There was the perception out there that there were all these problems with corruption," said Rep. Rick Gallot, D-Ruston, who chairs the House and Governmental Affairs Committee. "We passed legislation that had substance to address the perception.
"Are we crooks? Absolutely not. For the two terms I've been here, no member of the Legislature has been charged with corruption. There's been a DWI, a sex act and failure to file income tax, but nothing directly related to this job."

La. nets $9M from oil lease sale
By Ana Radelat
Gannett News Service
WASHINGTON — The Interior Department on Wednesday opened bids on offshore oil and natural gas leases that would result in an immediate source of new revenue for Louisiana, Mississippi and other Gulf Coast states.
Louisiana will receive about $9 million and Mississippi $6.5 million next year from the Eastern Lease Sale 224. Alabama would receive about $7.2 million and Texas about $2.6 million
my thoughts on it.
Ok Im confused, here we are with high gas prices
and we lease our Louisiana oil to the middle east.
Has only the middle east played Monopoly?
What's wrong with this picture?
Also other countries own our ports.
Has anyone in our govt played Monopoly?
I think nott..
You hold on to Utilities, important properties,
Broadwalk/White House...
Guess other countries own that too.

Going a little too far with advertising
To deface the beauty of the moon with advertising seems unthinkable,
but according to the news a Company offers to beam advertising on face of the moon.
What are they thinking?
someone looks up to the inspiring beauty of the moon,
to see a advertisement?
Hello..there is TV..and of course earth that has already been defaced,,
I guess from the start, the moon needs to be listed as a endangered land.
Men are running out of ideas to mess with earth,
let's see ,
I guess a advertisement will beam,
piece of the moon.
dirt cheap.
you can know longer enjoy it's beauty
unless you buy it,
than you can rent it to others for their viewing pleasure..
This is definitely going to be
the dark side of the moon.

Wanna know your teen and what your teen is doing?.
Listen
Listen to their music
Listen to their thoughts
Ask them what the lyrics mean to them on songs they like.
Talk with their friends.
Be open minded and realize they may not be the same person
that you believe them to be.
Don't expect them to be you.
Don't expect them to live your dreams.
And chances are,
they will have to make a few mistakes
before and if they decide,
to take your advice.
The best advice you can give your teen is to make
them aware that everything has a consequence,
not studying =failure.
not asking for help in school when they need it=failure
no education=job at McDonalds,
Not using protection for men and boys =child support
for girls possible single mother
also STD's.
Not paying child support=jail
Break the law=jail
Getting tickets=higher insurance
Etc.
I believe that most of a teen's mistakes are caused from not being aware of
the consequences.
Moving out=rent,utilities,gas for transportation,food,car payment;
before they smoke =cost of cigarettes
give them a estimate of how much they will need to make a month to live
on their own.
Kids are not made aware of adult situations until they get thrown in or jump in,
and than they are often overwhelmed.

I believe that the start of recession happened years ago,
when a person was forced into bad credit due to
high late charges,and bank charges,
banks allowed to charge $32.00 plus.for insufficient
charges, which may be from a occasional error.
than there is the late charges that can end in 1000's
for credit,or phone contracts that was not used
to that extent.

People seem to look at racism as something that only stems from white people,
But it has come to a reverse cycle,
where a person is afraid of agreeing with a white person
because they may be accused of racism.
Black people also show racism.
Someone said today that
I was a racist,
which is untrue,
If anyone would defend or befriend any race,
it would be me,
but I have also felt today,
racism in reverse.
I am finding that being a white person
is met with racism from other white people,
which is almost funny,
White people are afraid to take the side of another white person
esp.,if it's tenants.
Afraid they will be accused of racism.
It seems as if that word,
is always thrown in,
when there is a situation between a black person and a white person.
the black person wants to scream racism.
Maybe that causes more racism,
It would be a better world,
if we could just leave that word out,
and understand that sometime
it's a conflict of more personal issues,
yet to justify a argument,
and to be the person with the best argument
that word is thrown in.
The true fact is,
racism does exist,
but not only in the white community,
also in every race,
the black community also has racism.
The truth is that every race has felt racism,
and has been oppressed,
and it's time to move forward,
not to live in a past that occurred before our life time,
and to realize that every race experiences racism.
because people hold on to the past history,
and have a lack of understanding of each other,
and they seem to use the word racism at times
for a self serving advantage,
employers are afraid to hire a white person over a black person,
tenants arguments are often looked at with race,
because white people are afraid of looking as if they are prejudice,
or a racist their self,
they end up,
with racism reversal+discrimination reversal
I almost find it funny that people would make a huge argument
over a parking space as if it were the bus seat denied to Mrs. Rosa Parks,
in the 1950s.Personally I feel as id adults should politely communicate,
and ask someone to move their car if it's not in a place that
they agree on.I do not see a parking space worth
a argument.Oh please...Let's move on..
Don't let our POW-MIA become forgotten causalities of war.
We owe a debt of gratitude for their sacrifice,
and they need to be remembered as lost heroes,
continuing a effort to bring them home,
to their loved ones,
Each of them is someone's
son-daughter-sister-brother-father-mother-child.
They should always be the unforgotten.
and for their sacrifice they should receive
a purple heart.
Since the internet company 'not mentioning the name' has a higher speed upgrade recently,it seems my internet is slower,I wonder if that may be a ploy to have customers upgrade to the new higher speed. As my internet slows down,my imagination works in over drive with a consumer's questioning.
At the moment we enjoy flat rates with our local internet providers.
but I am definitely concerned that if the Time Warner billing stays in effect,
and spreads to other companies.
charging to the amount of usage instead of a flat rate.
people will be effected ,and the internet will not be affordable for the average user.
Campaign costs create trouble
This is not a good way to start your term: "Jindal charged $2,500 fine for ethics violation."
It seems politicians have a hard time having a clean campaign nowadays. Very disappointing.
Campaign money has become astronomical, and that's sad, too. It could be used so many places such as helping poverty issues.
It would be great to see the same kind of contributions given for politics given to charity.
I'm sure it's very hard for the average person to get into office due to the high costs of campaigning.

Most of young women have abortions without thought
of what they are doing.
I have never considered abortion.
and never realized people actually do that,
until years ago when a doctor had any patient
he saw see a movie on the development of a fetus,
I think every woman that considers abortion should see that movie,
and they need to know,
that a child 's life begins at conception.
and that a aborted baby may feel the horrible pain.
and that the death of a child from abortion
and that decision is something a person would have to live with for life.
When there are other options,Gerald Ford was adopted.
Young women have abortions because of convenience
embarrassment,or whatever reason,
but isn't a child's life worth fighting for?
a little embarrassment?
a little inconvenience?
Most problems are only temporary,
and there are solutions,
single mothers can care for children,
even if there is a struggle,
there are struggles in life,
but isn't life worth the struggle?
Young women are convinced that a fetus
isn't a life,or a child,
and they sometime make a mistake
end a life,
that can never be undone.
This is a life and death decision.
and the child pays the consequence
with their life
for those who choose unwisely,
and decide to have a abortion.
If family advise you.
or they are mad,
they will get over it,
and if not,
there are people and organizations that will
help.
Abortion is not a solution to problems
that can be temporary.
There are women who can't have children
and as a last resort,
give the child a loving home,
but not death.

8 hours of school 5 days a week,
a couple of hours of homework,
chores
expectation from parents,
Expectation from teachers,
peer pressure.
self expectation.
A lack of understanding something at times
leads to not wanting to do homework,
embarrassment and pride leads to not asking for help.
No child wants to make a bad grade.
Than there are the social issues
Trying to fit in and feel accepted by peers.
Worry about home problems.,
From single parent homes,
to other problems at home.,
Often children's problems are overlooked.
and disregarded,
their feelings ,their thoughts options,
not listened to,
Than a parent wonders,
why their child did not live up to their expectations
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Parents often ground their child for having bad grades,
In my option bad grades re not a behavior problem,
and should be not be addressed as a behavior problem.
There are situations where everyone has difficulty in learning something, and esp. very smart children have a lot of pressure on them to do well.A child does not want to make a bad grade,
it embarrasses him with peers,he may know he will be grounded.
Bad grades have a reason.
Either a child has poor study skills, are is not understanding how to do the school work, sometime the teacher may not be taking up the time or explaining to where that child understands.
When a child isn't dong well, both parent and teacher should be involved in finding the cause and the solution.
Children sometime are too embarrassed that they don't know something and will not always ask for help. This can start in elementary and follow them though college.
Students should not be made to feel they have done something wrong,
just because they have problems learning something,
A lot of the parents that ground their children for that, made bad grades their self, and may not have been grounded for it.Everyone wants their child to do well, and have a good life.but the child needs to see fairness in discipline ,
and it should be reserved a punishment for doing something wrong,
not for having problems learning something in school.
This will cause children to start to misbehave and rebel.
Social issues
There should be a class in school
that teaches consequences for breaking laws,
and the responsibility of a parent,a adult,
and a citizen.
Perhaps people need to be taught to think
about what they do.
a person's words can be a knife
to the heart or a bandaid
In two different situations,
in the same morning.
two offices that are supposed to be helpful
have people that are very short with a person,
and very rude,
if you can't help someone or be of service to them,
you can be polite,
if a person calls it's because they are concerned and stressed about a situation.
People in organizations from disability help to community action to other help
should keep in mind that the people that call them are in stressful situations,
and don't need added stress, feelings hurt,or the feeling
they are a bother to anyone.
maybe the person can't help,
but a kind voice on the phone,
is so much easier to a distressed person,
than a rude voice.
People in programs meant to help others
may need a class in how to speak to people
kindly.
words can be a knife to the heart,
or a bandaid.

Holidays
There are many religions around the world,
Many people have different
thoughts and views on God,
and Allah,Heavenly higher powers,
Jesus and Prophets.
In our family we have two religious faiths,
Christian faith.
and Muslim.
The most important thing to learn as a family
and as people
is to learn to accept differences
each others thought,
and religious faiths, and to not try to
force ours on each other
and how to respect each other more.
Religion is a hard thing to explain.
God has mysteries that are hard to explain.
There are those who do not believe he exists,
because they can't see Him with their eyes.
God is seen only with the heart.
For those of us who share the Christian faith.
We believe that God had a son.
and so loved the world,
that He sent
His only son to be born on Christmas Day,
a Day that we honor by giving gifts,
good wishes to each other by
saying Merry Christmas,
Christmas is a beautiful loving time that inspires
us,gives us thoughts of each other
,and should be a time that lasts throughout
the year,because it's a time of unselfishness,love
and good wishes to each other,
In the Christian faith we believe
that A beautiful young woman named
Mary was chosen to be Jesus' mother,
and Her husband Joseph
was chosen to be His earthly father,
During the celebration of His birth
and the season of Christmas it is kind of like
Eid.we have family gathers and we have friends,
and parties and fun,
a custom of Santa Claus,
Which is the spirit of Christmas
giving gifts and love to others.
Years ago ,centuries ago there was a
man that saw that some children
were very poor
and he began to give gifts once a year,
We call him Santa Claus,
Father Christmas,or St.Nick.
He inspires us to do things for others,
and we buy gifts,
and add a little magic to Christmas
with a make believe Santa for kids, when in reality
he does live as the spirit of Christmas,
giving us the love to do for others.
In some areas of the country
it snows,beautiful white
soft flakes.people build snowmen,snow ball
fight,and sled ride,
We have many holidays of love.
We celebrate New Years Eve
and day as a new beginning of the year.
During this time we have fireworks, parades
in some areas of the country, and eat black-eyed peas
and corn bread for luck and good heath.
Than the next holiday is Valentine's Day.
On Feb 14th giving cards, flower and other gifts
to friends and those we love, esp.,couples
do things for each other
in the spirit of love.
This holiday came originally from a man
called St.Valentine
Also we have a holiday in
Feb. in Louisiana called Mardi Gras.
that although was a originally a pagan holiday
.Christians and all people use this holiday
a another fun time,with beautiful
perhaps a reminder that we can all live in peace
and respect each other.
In the spring we have another religious holiday.
We call it Easter, which is like the Muslim Ramadan.
We Christians believe that Jesus was
God's son, sent to earth to as a gift to the world
,to show God's love for the world.
He was sent as a new born baby,
which Christmas Day represents,
in the spirit of giving the gift of love,
The reason for His birth was a message
of love from God,
While on earth He would speak God's heart
,and that while
He was here on earth he performed
wonderful miracles
.at that it was a chosen fate for
Him to be placed on a cross,
for the sins of man,a sacrifice like a lamb
, and for that sacrifice
we have eternal life in heaven
God and Jesus, and Allah
a spiritual feeling of hearts,
that are felt when were open our hearts
and our minds to them.
During the Easter season
we also have a silly fun tradition
called the Easter Bunny, where we dye
and hide Easter eggs,and candy.
I am not sure where the Easter bunny came from
,but it is a fun make believe game
play with children
to make the spirit of Easter fun for children.
the Easter egg represents
a new birth of the world,
spring,and our spirits.
Than in May we honor Mothers
,June we honor Fathers,
Fourth of July is independence day
a national holiday with parades
,bbque,family gathers,fireworks and fun.
There is also Veterans Day,
memorial day,holidays
we honor our soldiers.
than their is a fun day
that was originally
a pagan holiday,but Christians
to peoples houses saying
magical trick or treat words
,people give you candy that night,
This holiday in Oct31,there are parties and fun,
everyone dresses as something scary
or like a fantasy person
such as Superman.a lot of fun for kids ,
and adults,We can enter a fantasy world.
In November we set a time to be thankful,
and together with family,this holiday
originated when pilgrims the first settlers came
to America, and at first became friends
with the native Indians that lived here
,they shared a dinner together
,and now dinner is traditional
Turkey,dressing,and cranberry sauce,
and pumpkin pie,a day
of family and friendship
and gatherings at each others house,
At the end of the day,
When Someday we go to heaven
and meet our maker,
God;;Allah,
I do not believe He will ask
what our nationality or race or religion is,
He will only ask,
Did you do good will,
and do you love me?
I believe we all need faith,
and that it is very wrong to try take away
something someone believes in.
With faith comes hope.
And my Christmas wish to my family,
and the world,
is that we all share,
peace,love,faith,and hope.
And to respect each other's faith.
Faith is believing in things that the eyes can't see.
And how a person chooses to worship God
is a very personal choice only meant to be made
by that person and God.
We are not hear to judge each other,
only God can do that,
We are here to love each other,
help each other,
and inspire each other,
to always seek peace and give love.
We should always share the Christmas
wish in the words of Merry Christmas,
a wish for a Merry and happy heart,
and a wish for peace and good will.
Merry Christmas to all.
At times we are silly and fun.
but the things we take serious
and believe with all of our heart,
is in our own spiritual faith.
and that all men are create equal,
and should have freedom,
and equal right
of speech.
and to and to be respected,
This is what our soldiers fight and die for,
This is America,
a land united with diverse and different
nationalities,races,and religions,
always seeking peace ,equal rights,
and freedom for all.
Celebrations are a beautiful, loving and fun
way of celebrating love and life.
A wish for love,hope,peace,and faith
Merry Christmas.

When does America stop letting values of this country be destroyed.
We need to fight for our servicemen,
as they have fought for us.
We can not allow any honor to be taken from those
who fight for our country.
Maybe this time we have made a difference.
This is what we are up against
ederal government bans flag-folding recitations following complaint

I'm not sure how much it helps
to tell someone things about their self,
to help them improve their life,
Sometime it's a mirror of what they already see and know,
and a knife in the heart,
Even though they may not be able to change,
they now bleed a little more,
hurt more,
and perhaps die inside more.
The truth hurts, causes hard feelings and anger,
but often does not help the problems one struggles with.
That's why I often refrain from telling others,
my thoughts,and feelings.
Tearing a person down doesn't motivate them.
only inspiring them, giving them confidence in who they are,
and what there possibilities are
and giving them ideas and suggestions perhaps may be helpful,
If you want someone to succeed and win build them up
with a strong foundation of who they are and what they are capable of doing.
Tearing down only causes the complete fall and failure.
The truth hurts.
It's hard to tell a person they are wrong.
with age comes wisdom
I am beginning to realize that you can't build someone up by tearing them down,
only by helping them build a stronger foundation.
and you can't give anyone your beliefs while disregarding theirs,
or give them your faith.
while taking theirs away.
You can't take things that people believe in away.
You can tell them your opinion but you can't force your opinion on them.
People need to respect each other's religion.belief, and who they are as a person,
and try to find the good about that person,
and be the mirror that reflects the good.

My lastest interest has been in trying to start petitions
for expanding and improving public transportation,
People can not became independent without a means of transportation.
Public transportation is often not in area
where people have been placed in low income complexes.
To improve public transportation will benefit the country,
it will help merchants to have more people to shop,
it will help unemployment if people have a way to their job,
and it will give people options where gas has grown very expensive,
Public transportation buses need to be made to be able to
sustain transportation with a environmental consideration.
Some buses have black smoke coming from them,
I do not believe that is good for our environment,
And needs to be improved.
Public transportation should be a very important issue,
but is often given very low importance and funding.
Crime is fed on a feeling of hopelessness, and without
a means of transportation people can not live a independent life
or have hope of a productive and independent life.

The present time
Some of the world's hatred is fed on the past,
when you think about it,
most everyone has had ancestors who were oppressed in some way,
I have Cherokee blood,
and my ancestors,
walked the trail of tears,
Than there is the Irish side,
I believe they also knew some sort of oppression,
Every race today.and the people of today,
did not live the past, feel the pain or cause it.
it's time to move toward the future,
and to live in the present time.
Today I got a answer about something I always wondered,
but never really researched, The Mayor Adrian Fenty kindly explained.
District of Columbia
Regarding the status of the District of Columbia, not being a state and not having representation in [Congress] government.
Please be informed that the District of Columbia is not a state because, Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution defines the nation's capital as a "district" under the jurisdiction and authority of the Congress.
Since Congress has jurisdiction and authority over the District, Congress has not granted the District the basic rights of representation in Congress as accorded residents of the states.

FATHERS
Some fathers love their child very much,
but are pushed away,
love for the mother, heartache, and the need to give and find peace.
We expect fathers to contribute to take care of their child financially,
regardless, while having to maintain their own living expenses and home.
It's very hard for single dads as well as for single mothers.
Not many people see the pain, heartache and hardships of a single dad.
He may want to be in his child's life,
But sometime it's such a huge fight,
as if he is in a storm,
and he doesn't want his child going through
the fight between parents,etc.
Sometime he leaves to give and find peace,
out of love for his child.
It's a sacrfice for him and a great loss,
a sad heartache,
alway feeling the deep ache.

2 tough questions
Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who
were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had
syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?
Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts.
Here are the facts about the three candidates. Who would you vote for?
Candidate A.
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist
He's had two mistresses.
He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.
Candidate B.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon,
used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.
Candidate C
He is a decorated war hero.
He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an
occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.
Which of these candidates would be our choice?
Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.
And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question:
If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.
Pretty interesting isn't it?
Makes a person think before judging someone.
Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember:
Amateurs...built the ark.
Professionals...built the Titanic
And Finally, can you imagine working for a company that has a little
more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...
Can you guess which organization this is?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to
keep the rest of us in line. Which is not what the framers had in mind!!!

I know you are in Ark,
trying to find peace,
And give peace.
Tired of fighting.and heartache.
I know you miss Desari.
and all of us.
We miss you too.
I know that you think what you are doing is for the best.,
and I know it's hard for you,
to be away from Desi,
and family.
We love you.
and we know
you love us.
Come home when you are ready.
And wherever you are in your life.
always know.
We love you.
Hostage
Sometime it's like having you heart held hostage,
if you have no legal rights,
and you voice a opinion that offends someone,
or makes them angry,
you might not be allowed to see the loved one again,
Even though your words were meant only to help.
I guess that's why they say
'Silence is golden..
guns
My cousin Marvin's son Johnny was only 16
when he was into possible unknown drug problems,
took a shotgun,
and blew his own head off,
no one knew he would do that.
Mix alcohol,weapons,maybe drugs,and children.
you have a dangerous situation.alcohol
Another cousin at 2 yrs old climbed to the top of a refrig, using counters, and got a pistol,
and shot his self in the lung,he was very lucky and lived,
but he almost died.
The saddest true and very personal experience,
was watching a beautiful little girl grow up,
the same age od Dustin my grandson,
Tina's two beautiful angel daughters,
Hailey 7,Brooke almost 2,
shot and killed by their own father.
than he shot his self.
They lived close to me,
and knowing such tragedy of Tina's heartache.
still breaks my heart.
Are pictures of guys with guns,
fun,or meant to be intimidating..?
after past voiced threats to some ,
one doesn't know what someone will
do with a weapon.
My daughter once had a friend.
whom she thought was a nice guy,
he got a young girl pregnant.
and than shot the girl, which also killed the baby.
and he shot the girl's mom.
3 innocent lives lost.
Guns are for hunting,
not for toys........ not for playing with while drinking..etc.
or around children.
My veiws..
Pictures are a good thing to have,
if ever there were a reason to need them,
But I hope there will never be,
a reason for a picture like that to be needed.
So for guys with guns and threats,
be careful about where you post your picture.
I have had bad past experiences with people,
I have tried to share my advice,
in hopes that others would avoid
very heartbreaking experiences.
But I find,
people do not want advice,
They want to make their own mistakes,
And learn life's lessons the hard way.
At least I will feel peace within myself,
that I tried to help.
p.s.
Gun accidents..
Hmmm..Dick Chaney shooting his friend in the face..
Only vice presidents have accidents with guns and friends..
Hard Lessons
People don't want advice,
they would rather learn the hard lessons of life,
on their own.
with tears and heartache.
Life can be a very hard teacher.
Bad Experiences could be avoided.
but some would rather.
the lessons of life,
than the advice of someone who cares.
Live your bad experiences of life..Live and learn..
and hope the innocent survive.
I have enough problems,
taking care of me..
So to all of the fool hearted..
Live and learn.

Is there a person without value?
I do not believe that anyone is without value,
we are all valuable in God's eyes.
He doesn't see our wealth or our poverty.
Poverty may cause people to do things in desperation
that they might not do otherwise.
It's so easy to judge others,
without walking in their shoes,
but is that judgment,
a real justice to their value?
Society brings down a person's sense of value,
with their expect ions of morals that society has made.
Maybe the moral standards are what brings person down.
It's hard to live up to the world's expectations,
or even our own,
Sometime we are our own hardest judge,at the end seeing ourself,
as invaluable.
materialisms s just a false sense of getting self esteem,
which is a person's deepest need.
We need to feel good about ourself,
and not seeing your own value,
becomes your downfall.

Quote that I think is very pretty
And beauty is a form of genius -- is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts of the world, like sunlight, or spring-time, or the reflection in dark waters of that silver shell we call the moon. It cannot be questioned. It has its divine right of sovereignty. It makes princes of those who have it.

Family life of a Muslim American
family overseas
My daughter and her husband
and family ,remind me of the Walton's,
with a middle eastern flair
they live in a 2 story house,
where they let the grandparents and a aunt
live on the first floor,on the second floor,
they have about 4 bedrooms,
My daughter has 3 children.8,10,12,
Her husband is a dr of pharmacy
at a medical hospital over seas.
He is from there, but is a American citizen.
Although he is Muslim.
he has a great respect for our customs,
religious beliefs,thoughts,and views.
He is a wonderful caring man,
and my daughter is a angel.
He may wear the pants of the family,
but she holds the remote control,
haha.
The children are like all American kids,
They love to talk on the phone,
they do their homework sprawled on the floor,
with a pout on their face,
My granddaughter's bed is covered with dolls,
she excels in sports, soccer and ice skating,
my grandson's name was in the newspaper
their for a school honor.
my oldest grandson of her children,
loves to cook,esp baking cakes.
They love sports, esp. soccer, which they excel at
,and ice skating,
who would think there would be a ice skating rink
in the middle east, where in my mind,
I once pictured only camels,deserts.and tents,lol,
When they come to visit,
they are a very natural part of the family,
well blended with the rednecks here.
They speak 3-4 languages well.
We stay in touch often though emails,
and instant messages,allowing pictures sent
and conversation and webcam where the children
can see me to be instant.
The most important thing we have done,
to keep a very close family,
is to respect each others thoughts
and religions, even if we don't agree with them.
My family has become a international family.
I hope someday to see the world,
become a international family,
living in peace with respect.
They may spend Christmas with me,

and experience,
the wonders of our Christmas.

knowing things like
there is a domaint volcano in Little Rock,

I'm not sure why I have some many photographs of myself,
One reason is I love photography,
it's a very creative outlet for my artistic expression.
I don't see myself as that attractive,
maybe Im looking for something outward beautiful
about myself,
when I look inward it's also sometime hard to see
my own beauty.
I don't know why I put out so many profiles.
on dating sites,
sometime maybe it's just for fun in a bored moment,
or maybe deeper, it's loneness,
and a wish for love.
desperate?
I think I'm okay alone,
most of the time alone.
But it would be nice to have someone.
Until I do,
it's nice to have friends,
and the internet has been a great way to meet people.
Through all of my struggles,
as a single mother,
and living on a very small income,
the one thing I have always held onto,
is that I will love the person I marry,
if ever I marry again.
I see family that are couples,
with a good income struggle,
and it makes me realize that
I don't have anything to contribute
financially,
and that has been and will be
a barrier to a relationship,
along with the fact I have panic attacks,
and don't drive
I'm not crazy. A lot of mental health professionals believe that people have panic attacks due to frightening past experiences,
which I have had many of,
but I believe that it is a defected gene that causes them.
just like those who crave danger have a defected gene.
Men want a assertive and strong personality,
independent and can keep their life in control,
that have common interests,
women that hurt,fish,play sports,
bonus points. Friend,buddy,companion.
and men are more intimated over sexiness,
and sex than people realize,
They want comfort,
I believe.
I think people's marriage
breaks up at times,
because they don't know what they want,
until they lose it,
through maybe fantizy and delussions,
of what love is,
Sometime fanatizy should be
just that, a fantizy
I have always been able to
make something from nothing,
I think I do proverty better,
than anyone,haha,proverty queen.
God seems to give me the power,
to take my small amount of fish,
and extend it well beyond what seems possible,
My cousin who is a bit of the wild child,
but seems to see people well,
calls be a survivor.
I have always seen myself ,
that way, Because of my panic attacks,
I don't drive,
If I were in New York,
or somewhere in the north.
the fact that I don't drive
would not be a uncommon thing,
because New Yorkers rely on public transportation.
but here in the south.
people look down on people who don't drive.
people don't relize that anyone could
become unable to drive,
at any moment,
due to many different reasons, esp.eye sight,
DWI's take a lincense away from many people, etc.
I have my lincense,but Im won't drive,
because of my panic attacks,
Im afraid I'd kill others in a accident.
Not driving is a major obstable.
College grad is May 19,
I have mixed feelings,
pride and nervous about leaving our comfort zones,
for my daughter and I ,
life will change.
My daughter may grad from college in May,
It's very exciting,
and more stress that I realized,
she still has to pass a very hard class,
if she does't grad,it will devastate her,
in my heart,
I'm always proud of her,
she has made it this far,
but for her own feelings,
I hope she will grad.
I believe she will.
Also stressful is the expense
of grad.
The moment I saw her grad picture,
I was deeply moved,
and feeling very teary eyed.
Also both of us are very worried,
and he uncertainy of the future,

A very sad day today 4-16-07
I just got my daughter's grad pic in the mail today,
she is grad from college,
and seeing her picture made me very teary eyed,
than I turned the news on,
to see the heartbreak
of the Virginia College murders today of 33,
with 15 injured from a lone gunman,
a troubled young person who later
shot his self.
My heart went out to the parents,
and loved ones of the victims.
I can not understand,
why they just had the college police
handle it,
why they did not swarm the place,
earlier.
Why couldn't they find some way to bring security
into the university after finding the first 2 murders,
it just doesn't cut it to me,
it's so heartbreaking,
and the thoughts of a college daughter's mother,
is now of concern for safety at colleges,
as she hopes to go to grad school in the fall.
The kids today feel a wave of violence,
that I have never seen in my lifetime.
What gives someone such rage,
and mental distubance,
that they would randomly kill so many people,
for no reason?
The year of my daughter's high school grad,
was a tradgdy too,
where a man shot and killed,
2 little girls I had watched growing up,
and the older of the 2 had played with my grandson.
Those deaths were very sad,
the man was on drugs,
and the police did not enforce a restraining order.
a sad result to abuse and drugs.
Maybe some people love too deeply,
and lose rational thinking,
or maybe they already had mental illness.
adding drugs and achohol to the mix,
makes a very bad and dangerous combination.
Whatever happened that caused the murders today.
I feel very sad for the families of the victims.
College kids are under a lot more pressure
than people realize. pressure to pass classes, find jobs, etc.as they gamble 20-100 thousand dollars
on a education ,they have to pay for,
even if they don't succeed,
or graduate.
Sometime it's overwhelming.

The Saga Ends
The surprising end to the soap opera reality court room show,
Anna's mother,walking in the middle,
with arm and arm,
between the two men believed to be the possible father of the baby.
A touching ending to a tragedy that had become almost a tragedy comedy.
in the courtroom.
I admired the judge a man that had been a former cab driver, who got his degree in law, became a attorney, and than a judge,
both he,Anna,Anna's mother and Larry.
seemed as if they came from similar backgrounds, I don't really know Howard's background, but he seemed to me,to have deep love for both Anna and her baby.
It was drama that bought the best and the worst out ,
perhaps letting them express emotions that helped to heal,
To me the judge was a very human judge,
not overlooking the spiritual side,
took a great deal of courage in the court.
He may have been a little rough around the edges, the cab driver that became a judge,
but he was also a man with heart.
To me Anna seemed to have been a very beautiful person,
that reached out for a dream that came so true,
it over powered her,and at times over shadowed the beautiful woman within.
p.s.I guess Zsazsa kept the prince at home...lol.. darn my memory,I don't remember how to spell her name, lol,,I should look it up! But in my blonde moment,,I won't..lol

Yesterdays television news
Feb 16,2007
Yesterday's television news,
seemed to have been wrote
by a combination of writers,
Stephen King.Jerry Seinfeld.
John Grisham.Jerry Springer.
News is becoming, a combination
of a soap opera,comedy,thriller,horror show,
I guess that is the definition of the world around us,and life.
Anna Nicole's court situation,
has sadly turned into a tragic comedy,
Anna should be buried next to her son,
and her mother should realize that.
It seemed she must have had a premonition
she wasgoing to die,
she had bought a burial plot by her son.
and had a dress maker make a special dress.
I belive Elvis had a similar premonition
singing the song my way,and a few other songs
he sung as if it were a goodbye
to his daughter,those he loved,
and the world.
It's amazing that so many men claim
to be the father of her baby.
when there are so many other situations,
where men run from responsibility,
due to child support,
I believe each of these men.
are genuinely interested
in the baby's welfare.
I will feel a bit sorry for the men,
of this situation who lose.
Who's your daddy?
A little Presidental senenio.lol.
Bill Clinton must be on a short leash,
as of yet he hasn't stepped forward to say he's the daddy,
ok,humor in bad taste, but it's hard not to
have a Bill Clinton Joke in there somewhere, lol.
after all it is President's Day,
I can just hear him now,
I did not have sex with Anna Nicole,
And Im not that baby's daddy..
At least Bill isn't a kiss and tell man..haha
I can hear Hilary too. .
Bill I will kill you,
if you claim that baby.
and you won't be the 'First Man'
in the white house.haha
Jokes aside..
A baby should know
the father,
but not everyone realizes
the importance of the knowledge
of the true bloodline to a child.
until it's too late.
Even adopted children
should be told of their true birth parentage.
It can be very hurtful otherwise,
when found out later in life.
more on the news very weild horror news
A girl on yesterdays news, tied a man up
in bondage.cutting and stabbing him.
to drink his blood,pretty scary,
that people are so mentally disturbed.
Another news story
A young man goes on a shooting spree
in a mall killing people
.
No one knows the reason.
He was from Bosnia,
which gives another terrorist
fear to the public.
which may create more fear of middle eastern decent people,
amongst the American public
I think he just had mental problems,
like the Americans that have done things,
like that in the past.
It's too bad whatever is wrong with the brain.
that causes people to murder,
can't be found in time and repaired.
more news, kinda weild
a woman took her dog to a groomer.
who acciendently cut his ear off.
and than super glued the dog's ear back on.
it fell off when the owner thought
it was dirty and tried to wash it.
My question is who would try to superglue
a body part on??answer, the groomer..
Also on the news,
a man claiming to be the anit-Christ and Jesus,
a unusual and contradictory combination.
has a large congregation of followers,
in Miami mostly Cuban decent,
tattooing their self with 666,
as the tattoo artist she said wears a cross,
for protection.
Good news!
The miracle on television yesterday
was awesome,
where a semi collided with cars,
and no one was hurt,
seeing the video,
it was incredible,
The day before another miracle,
a young man's parachute doesn't open.
and he survives.
it's nice to se stories like that in the news sometime,
that has good news.
More good news yesterday.
we may be coming closer to a vaccine for aids,
For more information on that,
there is a journal on nature.com
On the subject of war,

A Valentine Miracle of the heart
Today I heard on the news,
a boys heart stopped.
and four days later it restarts,
The parents call in Devine miracle,
I agree.
and also believe that maybe that
seems as though the life support may be removed
too soon for many people.
Soldiers
For those who have soldiers
they can salute soldiers at
salute@cnn.com
Speaking of soldiers,
they are having budget cuts,
some things being cut is vet's benefits,
and heatlh care for the elderly,
handicapped.and low income,
We wouldn't want govenment officials,
and politicians to cut their spending budget,
perhaps drive a Volkswagon,
now would we???
The money they 'waste' would be enough
to have homes for the homeless,
feed the hungry.
and support security.
with a end to war in victory,
but we wouldn't want that??
Would we???
I say buy more shoes

As for President,
Id like to see Rudy in.
hope he runs.
and stays cancer free,
I wish him the best,

As far Hilary.
Don't mess with her Korea/Iran,

Random Thoughts Who's your daddy??
Ive never seen so many men step up the plate,
mmmmm.what if there was child support involved?
and Anna was just the struggling porn star?
Would they step up,or step out of the game???
It's interesting to see a reverse sitution.
with so many dead beat daddies.
I've always felt sorry for Anna ,
it seems that everyone wants her piece of the pie.
She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe,
a very sad life of heartache,
only it's sadder with her son's death,hers,
and leaving a child with legal entanglements,
The test should have already been done,
Every child desrves to know who their parents are,
but not everyone realizes,
what a mistake it is.
not to instill the belonging of a parent,
and the bond.
A Quote I love,Im not sure who wrote it,but I agree Ha-ha!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up,totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Does soceity sell our mentally handicapped short
Doesn't society put too much emphasis
on intellect, and high grades in school,
placing to much pressure of kids to perform
while making it a embarrassment to have any
learning disabilities,and throwing a shadow
over the overall person.
that may cover areas they excel in.
to where their possible achievements
are blind sighted, and often left unnurtured?
Do we expect too much from gifted kids,
and believe children with learning disabilities,
can not do things, such as learn how to use a computer?
Sometime placing mentally handicapped into job programs for handicapped,
to do jobs, that the average person would not do,while not receiving minimum wage,
which should be given to everyone,as the law states,
regardless of race,religion,or handicap,
But when jobs are giving though government programs,
employers are not required to pay minimum wage,
and receive a tax break,
which seems like, getting paid for breaking the law,
because our government gives a loophole,
which also seems like slave labor,
using the handicap for below min wage labor.
Does society realize that people such as Van Gogh,
had mental illness ,yet contributed to the world,
so profoundly, that he would be recognized for centuries for his talent?
What we take for granted.?
How some people must dream of living here, and sacrifice everything that they have ever known, family, friends, and familiarity, while going through dangers, prejudice, and loneness and heartbreak?it must be a very emotional process to want to come here, and I'm sure the dreams that bring them or very powerful, than when they get here,to have the things we take for granted, they have to take a citizenship test, that many of us would fail, face language barriers, prejudice, find and hold a stable job,and sometime even marry, plus be here 5 years to obtain citizenship.?
I think God I was born here.I would not have survived otherwise.?

I'm a Christian and always will be,
I'm not jumping on a Muslim bandwagon
or denouncing my Christian faith.
what I am doing,
or hope to be doing,
is to remind us all,
that each religion has been persecuted,
Jews,Christians,and Muslims,
for the belief that they hold deeply
in their heart of hearts,
and someday I hope to see a end to religious
persecution.racial prejudice,religious prejudice,
and to see the world realize,
freedom is about the choice we have,
to believe in whatever we believe.
Sometime I hope to see each of us,
reach out a hand in peace,
open the heart to understanding,
and eyes opened,
to see that we are all equal in God's eyes,
We can be different and live in peace,
only by respecting each other's difference,
and accepting difference,
The one common ground we stand on,
is earth,
We can create hatred and wars,
or we can learn to live in peace,
and share knowledge that benefits all
of the human race,
and give understanding to our differences,
Learning from each other,
we will find,
that in each of us,
there is a special unique quality.
to share and offer to the world.
Together we can destroy the world with wars,
or we find ways to make the earth a better place to live
through peace.
It takes each of us,
to make a difference..
parents what do we teach our children in the words and actions,
toward others?
the child at school..untaunted..
because the other children have learned
not to mistreat others.
the minister refraining from religious slurs.
The neighbor offering friendship.
Every step we take toward peace..
is a step closer to God.
God sent a powerful commandment,
that we love our neighbor as our self.
Whatever religion we choose,
to believe or not to believe,
God's command holds true ,
and is the key to peace.
People or religions are not stepping stones.
to step on to get closer to God.
We can't go higher while pushing others down.
we just end up collapsing a possible building foundation,
to a peaceful platen .
Jesus once spoke.
for the one who had not sinned,
to cast the first stone.
Whatever religious or non religious belief we have.
the one thing true of us all,
We are all equal in God's eyes,
We have all sinned and came short of the glory of God,
We will continue to sin,
we have a sinful nature,
we are human.
We need to look into the mirror at times.
and see.
that we are not perfect,
so who are we to condemn another?

what the meaning of life for him would always be.

much better than going to Wymoning for 9 months,

Surprise chimp born at La. sanctuary
Wed Jan 17, 8:56 AM ET
SHREVEPORT, La. - In a mysterious bit of monkey business, a female at a chimpanzee sanctuary has given birth, despite the fact that the facility's entire male chimp population has had vasectomies.
Now managers at Chimp Haven are planning a paternity test for the seven males who lived in a group with Teresa, a wild-born chimpanzee in her late 40s who had the baby girl last week.
Workers have started collecting hair samples from the chimps for testing. Once they identify the father, it's back to the operating room for him.
Chimp Haven managers said they knew something was up when Teresa was missing during morning rounds on January 8. Later in the day, she appeared with a newborn chimpanzee in her arms.
"Well, we were all just a little bit surprised when we heard the news," said Linda Brent, a spokeswoman for Chimp Haven.
The baby chimpanzee was named Tracy and she and her mother are doing fine, Brent said.
Teresa had 10 other offspring before retiring to Chimp Haven over a year ago. This is her first baby in 13 years.
It's also the first chimpanzee born at the sanctuary although officials there hope there will be no more accidents.
Chimp Haven provides long-term care for chimpanzees who are no longer needed for laboratory research. It was established by a group of primatologists and is located on 200 forested acres about 20 miles southwest of Shreveport. The first chimpanzee residents began arriving in 2005, according to the sanctuary's Web site.

The human race can not stand unsolved mystery..
The intrigue and mystic of Mona Lisa may end...
Mona Lisa may someday lose her mystery..
More digging up bones..
it seems so wrong to take remains.

That money would be nicely spent on research for diseases

Hmmm.they may find out for sure who she is..
but they will never know the who..and why that caused the secret smile..
That mystery is forever a secret of Mona Lisa's.

I'm not really sure where I fit in.
If being a Christian is saintly and without sin,
I'm a far cry for that,
But if being a Christian is loving God,
feeling he's in the heart,
and believing in Jesus.
than I call myself a Christian.
Changes in my life ad who I am
are difficult,
I'm not sure I can change,
it's as if it's my core being,
I guess that's why I love the song.
Just as I am.
I think of my grandson and his baby girl.
The lion and the lamb,
seems to be the portrait that reminds me of them.
how he holds her close to his heart,
in a gentle embrace as they sleep.
It's very sweet.
.................................................................
I hope that we can have the baby blessed
in a religious service at the church I attend soon.
I believe it will give me a feeling of peace,
and can be a beautiful moment with God,
shared by the family.
Random thoughts Jan 11,2007 How did I survive???
TO ALL THE KIDS
WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while
they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't
get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs
covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when
we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took
hitchhiking
As infants & chilren, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster
seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and
NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with
sugar, but we weren't overweight because ..
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were
back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day.
And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride
down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the
bushes a few times,
we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,
no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in
us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it
would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or
rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who
didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers and inventorsever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

Do we really need to dig up people's bones and recreate what their nose looks like?
Such as Dante the poet??
It seems a little bit immorale to disturb ancient burials,
why do we need to know so much that we dig up sacred burial sites,
mummies,etc?
ROME (Reuters) - Italian scientists have made a reconstruction of the face of the poet Dante some 700 years after he died and have found some surprises, particularly about the supposed shape of his famous aquiline nose.

Sometime I think that personal ads
can tear down a person's self esteem.
Sometime I feel like removing them,
but than it seems like..
giving up hope of finding love..
and at times they are fun!
Spiritual note!
Sunday seemed to be a day of mixed up feelings.
Some of us at church.
were lifted up,
to realize we aren't so bad!
others were humbled..
and we all came out,
equal I believe.
on the playing field.
Once you take a person off the pedastal,
you can really truly begin to know,
and like them,
for who they really are.
I think I may be finding ,
a little more acceptance of myself.
If we have all sinned..
and came short of the glory of God..
I'm not alone! ha-ha
At times I feel very close to God..
and at other times I examine
my short comings too closely,
and don't feel worthy enough.
to call myself a christian.
but I do believe in God..
and feel Him in my heart.
and I believe in Jesus,
and salvation.
Without faith..
there is no hope,
which is a very sad thought.
So I prefer to have faith,
and believe there is more to life,
than a breathe of air,
on a side note..

Saving Your Laptop after a Spill
This article was excerpted from:
Upgrading & Fixing Laptops for Dummies
Water, coffee, and soda are among your laptop's worst enemies. Just a little bit of such a liquid on your laptop keyboard can damage or destroy your machine or cause you to lose data.
Some laptops are more vulnerable to damage from a spill on the keyboard than others, and it doesn't always have anything to do with the price tag. Some keyboards have a thin rubber membrane beneath the keys with electrical contacts molded right into little domes under each letter; that design may feel squishy and cheap to some users, but it stands up better to a splash or a flood than a more traditional design with springs and exposed contacts. How do you know which type of design you have? Take a look for yourself by prying off a keytop; if you're shopping, you may be able to get the information from the manufacturer or a dealer.
The best way to prevent damage from a mix of liquid and electronics is to keep them as far apart as possible. Keep your laptop far away from cups of coffee, glasses of water, and cans of soda.
But in the real world, stuff happens. If you have a choice of poisons, take the water spill. A hot cup of coffee, a cold glass of soda, or a glass of wine are each bad news; all of them are slightly acidic. Acidic liquids are nastier than nearly neutral water because the acid can corrode metal contacts. And both coffee and soda can become gummy and sticky as they dry.
Here's the drill for an emergency recovery from a spill:
1. If you have your machine plugged into wall current, turn off the power at the circuit breaker in your home or office.
You don't want to touch a wet wire carrying 110 volts or so.
If you're running the machine on battery power, it's still operating, and you don't see sparks, hear odd noises, or smell burnt electrical components, shut your laptop down through the normal Windows process.
If something is obviously wrong with the machine, turn it off immediately by depressing the Off switch or by removing the battery.
2. Ground yourself by touching the center screw on the faceplate of a dry electrical outlet or by touching some other metal object that reaches to ground.
3. If you haven't done so in emergency mode, remove the AC adapter and the battery, and set them aside.
4. Disconnect any external devices (such as a mouse) attached to the USB, FireWire, serial, or other ports.
5. If you find any liquid on the battery or AC adapter, wipe them carefully and set them aside.
If your spill has thoroughly soaked the AC adapter or the battery, you probably need to consider it a loss. You can get replacement AC adapters and batteries from various sources, including the original equipment manufacturer, laptop accessory companies, and the used market.
6. Remove any cards installed in the PC Card slot.
If they're wet, carefully dry them off. If any water has gotten into the narrow slot, dry out the area with a cotton swab, taking care not to leave any threads of cotton in the internal connector.
7. Wipe off any liquid on the display.
Use a clean cloth dampened with water to remove any sticky residue.
8. Remove the hard drive and the CD/DVD drives if you have them installed in plug-in bays.
Dry them off if they're wet. Set them aside.
9. Open the memory module container; remove and dry the memory modules.
Make notes on the placement of the modules. Set them aside.
10. Hand-dry the keyboard surface with a lint-free cloth.
If you spill soda or coffee, consult the instruction manual for your computer and learn how to carefully remove each of the keycaps for the affected area. If the instruction manual includes a picture of the keyboard, make sure that you can see the names of all the keys and their locations; otherwise, make a drawing of the board, paying special attention to the location of some of the specialized keys, including cursor keys, Page Up, Page Down, Scroll Lock, and the like. Or you can use a digital camera to take a picture of the keyboard.
11. Clean the exposed membrane or switch cover and the keys themselves.
Leave the keys to dry before replacing them.
12. Leaving the display open, place the computer on a sturdy surface supported by two books or small boxes.
This setup lets air circulate all around the computer. Leave the computer and all of its separate parts to air dry for at least 24 hours. Don't use a fan or (horrors) a hair dryer to attempt to fast-forward the drying process.
13. Reassemble the pieces that you removed.
Do this step a day or more after doing Step 1 through Step 12, and make sure that everything is dry and that you don't have any dried puddles of sticky acid left anywhere on the machine. Remember to ground yourself before touching any circuitry or modules, and begin the power-up process with the battery first and the AC adapter second.
If in doubt about the safety of any part, you should go ahead and replace it instead of using it. Replacing a battery, an AC adapter, or even a hard disk drive always costs a lot less than replacing a motherboard

holidays and gifts 6
Christmas can be a time,
when feelings are deeply hurt,
the show of favoritism seems to
come to light more at Christmas,
than any other time,
The feelings of loneliness,
seem more overwhelming,
society has made holidays,
that sometime only cause,
a feeling of loneliness,
depression and hurt feelings,
for those who are alone.
Sometime I wonder,
Do we really need holidays,
that only serve to create materialism.
and remind others of the love,
and materialism they don't have,
Holidays can tear families apart.
I try to look forward to holidays,
and the joys of Christmas,
but when I see the unhappiness,
and hurt feelings,
and depression that it causes ,
sometime I wonder,
if a holiday is really a good and healthy,
thing to celebrate,
Causing people to go beyond their means,
to give sometime meaningless gifts,
some gifts say,
you don't really know me.
Some gifts say.
You love someone else more.
Gifts sometime speak,
louder than words,
and cause secret pain and heartache,
that seals into the heart,
stealing away the feelings of love,
and replacing them with resentment,
anger,jealousy,hate,
all wrapped up in a pretty box.
Gift buying and giving ,
become a duty,
and thoughtless.
Holidays can be a cold reminder,
to those in proverty,
of how little they have,
and a cruel reminder to the lonely,
that they are alone.
So why do I still love holidays so much???
Christmas party
We had a very nice and fun Christmas party,
the wek before Christmas at my son's,
my daughter was going to be gone for Christmas,
so we got together early,
his house looked very pretty with Christmas lights
all over it,
and a beautiful huge real Christmas tree.
It seemed like a Norman Blackwell Christmas.
well maybe not,,lol,
he grilled hamburgers which were great,
my grandson song for us,
and he and my daughter's boyfriend played the guitar,
it was a real nice family time.
Turkey recall-haha
Thanksgiving,I spent alone,
no turkey dinner,
felt bad until they did a recall
the next day on turkeys,
how do you recall turkeys

They rolled my mom's wheel chair out to the dance floor
dancing with her,she loved it and had

gave her a beautiful end to a fun evening.
These people are wonderful,
they give fun to people
who otherwise would not have had
such a great time,
a couple that had a retardation or mongoloid,
danced together,
kissing each other on the dance floor,
on a slow dance.
and some bumb and grind,
it was a very sweet thing to see,
very romantic,
they seemed very much in love!
They danced very good,

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Look at the special people in your life,

Thanksgiving is exactly what the word says,

Sent them back,
in hopes for a exchange
which is't likely with that seller.

This goes way over my head in understanding..
Why does anyone want to make a memorial,
tht costs 85 million,or was that billion,
such as the Martin Luthor King
memorial when there are starving people?
I think Martin Luthor King would agree!
Thie weekend was nice,
my daughter won't be with me for Thanksgiving,
so she and her boyfriend came over
to cook my dinner.
I belive his mom gave her the recipe,
she never learned more than how
to use a micawave until she was 21.
she's 23 now,
and made a home made carrot cake,
and crawfish pasta.
She's always learned fast and has
always wanted to do the max
at learning or doing anything.
she learned to knit, sew, cook ,in a day,
and can keep up with professionals,
in those areas,she amazes me!
I went to church Sunday.
Wedecorated the tree,
while she was here.
a little early,
but it was fun!
it was like going home.
I hadn't been to church in years.
and I went back to church Sunday.
to the church that
I took my kids to,
There's a new building,
everything is very comfortable,
go casual in jeans,
dress up,
they don't care,
just welcome you,
the music was beautiful,
singing songs that were
wrote in similar lyrics I write,
I really enjoyed it,
seeing old friends,
and spiritually lifting.
went to lunch with church friends
afterward,,
my dieting is totally gone!
Scarey,haha,
My grandson decided maybe I
was right,imagine that!,
He's not going into military,
he agreed he has a temper
problem.
he's going to a mechanic
school in Wyoming,
that will most likely suck too,
because I saw on the internet,
il Lamie there is nothing to do,
haha.
he gets bored easy.
but he is interested in auto meachinics.
wants to work on foreign cars,
and I think that's great,
but he may leave Dec 27,
close to when his baby is due,
he won't want to,
when th baby comes.
he may go in Feb,
it's at least a short time,
about 9 months,
same time as expecting a baby,
haha..
My daughter will check out colleges
in south La for her masters,
I have a empty nest,
haha
Random Thoughts
I have been very excited about getting some
green boots that would match my green coat
that I ordered from Ebay,
I was very disappointed when I got them.
They were huge in the legs,
and so funny fitting,
my legs and my daughter's legs could have fit in them,
haha,
Why do I get funny fitting stuff??
I sent them back,
but I think that was a waste of time,
Don't think that woman does exchanges,
So Im left with no green boots,
There goes a little bit of my cool,
haha
haha..
My teeth now look pretty good,
I went to church,
I haven't been to that one in years,
and saw a old friend that said I still
look as young as ever while he said he aged,
with gray in his beard,
lol,
isn't it amazing what a little bottle
of hair color can do for a woman,
haha,,
made me feel great,
I had to hug him twice,
his wfe looked very beautiful,
she knows a secret or 2 ,
now herself,
They are beautiful lovely couple,
who have stayed in love,
a reminder that love can be
a beautiful lasting romance
of a lifetime,
I see that love in my daughter's boyfriend's parents too,
It's a beautiful inspiration when you see
two people who stay in love,
All of my children seem to have found happiness
and love.
I enjoyed church,
I will most likely go more often
That church is the one that
I had taken my children to before it changed locations,
it was like coming home,
seeing people I had known for years.
Years ago they gathered at my home,
outside and sung Christmas carols to me,
it is one of my favorite Christmas memories.
Random Thoughts Virus warning!
Thank God I found out about soon enough!
There is a bad virus.
It's called WORK
If you receive WORK from your colleagues, your boss, via e-mail,
or from anyone else, do not touch it under any circumstances.
This virus wipes out your private life completely.
If you should happen to come in contact with this virus,
take two friends and go straight to the nearest bar.
Order drinks immediately and after three rounds,
you will find that WORK has been completely deleted from your system.

New Orleans.
People were left to drown in New Orleans,
Yet this airlines could have been used if not for the red tape.
This should be incorporated into homeland security
for all national emergencies.
People knew that levee was not going to restand

if they are putting people on trail for murder such as the ones that own
the nursing home, shouldn't government officails be held just as responsible?
Our government had a airlines on contract!
Military contracts buoy World Airways
Sometimes the customers are people in need of evacuation.
World was made famous for the more than 4,000 Vietnamese children it airlifted

World and North American also helped evacuate more than 3,000 U.S. residents

how the government does low income families.
Giving them a yearly raise on socisl security, etc.

They put money in one hand,
and take it out of the other hand.

I thought that I heard someone outside
of my window again early this morning,
called 911,
noise is gone now,
so I'm more convienced that
I heard someone.
not just the wind.
called 911,
and was told one night
to look outside,
it was most likely a animal,
Hellooo,
Im not crazy enough to look outside!
the 911 dispatcher was very rude,
makes you hate to call 911,
I reported her,
and the sgt said she
followed procedure!
what kind of procedure
tells someone to look
to see if there is someone outside!
If I hadn't been scared.
and thinking someone was out there
I would not have called them.
and don't feel comfortable
about calling them in the future,
but of course I will,
if a problem arises.

I received a email ,
it's times like this,
that I write my poetry for,
and Im inspired for.
This is what the email said.
I just wanted to say…”thank you”
I was online reading poetry which is something I rarely do,
but I came across your poem that is titled “thank you”
about the soldiers fighting over here in this “war”.
I am currently a deployed army soldier deployed to iraq,
and I must say that its definitely appreciated to know that
some people in this world care about soldiers deployed.
To many people hate on us for what the media shows,
but no one really knows what really happens here,
until you put your shoes where we go everyday.
Its hard to be sain and under control
given the circumstances we are put in,
so I once again thank you
SGT Wisdom, Michael
It's awesome to know that others,
are comforted or their hearts touched from something
I have wrote, esp a soldier clear across the world,
fighting for freedom.
The poem he was referring to .
Thank you
Dedicated to soldiers and their loved ones
Those who have laid in fox holes, carried guns, marched for hours,
For those who have had cold sleepless nights, endless days of discomfort,
For those who have endured the agony of war for my sake.
Thank you.
For those who have gently kissed a loved one goodbye,
and with a tear looked back for a last time,
For those who have found courage to carry the sword of liberty,
For those who have flown with the eagle,
For those who have landed on foreign soil,
to take freedom to other countries
while keeping freedom in ours,
Thank you.
For those who have lost limbs, lifes and loved ones,
For those who have lost friends, sisters ,brothers, mothers and fathers,
For those who have sacrificed and gave their all for freedom's sake.
Thank you.
For those who have found the courage to stand,
For those who have reached out a hand for their fallen comrade.
For those who give freedom to strangers ,and a hope for peace.
For those who sacrifice all they love,
and pay the price for freedom.
Thank you."
And again ,I say,
Thank you!

was that the giver,

I do hope the Saints win..

And I hope that dome helps

Values
Poverty leads to misplaced values, and a misconception of self worth.
Sometime the appeal of name brand labels are really a desperate means to validate
a person's self worth.dignity,and self esteem.
Too often lost in the society are the true meaning of self worth.dignity,
and self esteem.
A person does not need to find self worth,
for they are worthy the day of their birth,
But those in poverty do not realize that,
those who have not felt they accomplished something
in their life also do not realize their worthiness.
What ever we have or have not done successfully
has no true meaning in self worth.
Some how people lose the moral fiber that is so important
for their inner peace,
Honesty. and integrity.
We have lost or misplaced our values.
We have become a society that has lost self discipline.
A person can live in poverty and still be a person of value,
and contribute to society in some way.
Perhaps as a encouragement and a example to others.
Poverty
Poverty is like a cancer,
It eats away a person's dignity, self esteem and self worth.
Those that live in poverty, see people like Michael Jordon in name brand shoes.
Advertisements are not just selling shoes,
They are selling false ways to find dignity ,self worth, and self esteem.
and self respect, the most important feelings there are,
and these feelings are hungered for more than food ,
by those in poverty.
People have material possessions confused with self worth
.For without self respect,it's hard to love yourself,
and those who can't love their self ,
find it hard to love or believe that someone can love them.

Today
My mom and dad got married Sept.25,1944.
My dad passed away 37 years ago.
I found a card that he gave her
a few days before he passed away,
it's 11 by14.
signed your loving husband,
I framed it,
and Im giving her that, with a beautiful red teddy bear.
and some pretty cds.
as a gift to her in memory of my dad.
Almost as if he gave her something.
Yesterday
Ok I admit it,
I have this huge crush on my daughter's doctor,
I haven't seen in months,
He looks like a movie star,
ruggedly handsome, even though he was slumming
in old shorts and a tshirt,,my heart still missed a beat, lol
of course he doesn't know I have a crush on him,
does he?
No one must have broken leg lately,
he was shopping at the dollar store,
too funny!
and the woman he was with ,
was just average,
no makeup,
which made me feel better,
I had no makeup,
me slumming,
we talked a few minutes,
than as I left I saw a crippled woman
coming toward to store,
Trying to hold the door for her,
I dropped my bags,
very emmbrassing,
But he helped me with them,
and held the door for the lady.
Dr,if you are every lonely,,
and know who you are,
look me up,haha..
I'm shameless,I have the hotts for a dr.

Men
A amusing species!
Young men look for older women,
and older men want 20 year olds!
What more do I need to say??
haha
'God'
It seems it's become dangerous
As if we lived in the middle ages,
to have a belief and openly express it,
for Muslims ,Jews,Christians,
I belive God wants people t come to Him
willingly,
whatever name someone chooses to
call God.
God is a God of free will,
not a God that wants people to believe,
because of fear,
but because their hearts have opened
to receive Him.
No one can love what they fear.
I can't believe God would want
someone to hurt others,
in His name,
I believe God looks down.
and cries .
He hears the cries of Abel,
after He has been slain,
by his brother.
Age
Sometime I feel ageless,
as if age is just a number,
or just a state of mind
a 21 year old's heart.
Than there are times,
I feel as if I'm a very old soul,
Almost as old as time it's self
The reincarnation of Eve perhaps.
I want this!
This is on my want list,
It would be nice to have from someone
who thought I am special.
It's a very pretty necklace. Love me tender necklace

There is no perfect way of life,
no 24/7 happiness,
alone or with someone,
those looking for perfection in people,
or in life, will only end up
with disappointment.
Random Thoughts
Being alone does not always mean ,
being lonely,
Being married does not always mean,
being happy or in love.
Random Thoughts
Sometime a house becomes a prison,
for a trapped heart,
A house,a car, a boat,
is not worth the sacrifice.
Sometime you have to give up
or lose everything,
to find yourself,
It takes courage to stand alone,
leave the comfort zone,
even if it's a unhappy one,
To explore life,
and begin again.
takes a brave heart,
with strength and courage.
Holding on when it's time to let
go only makes a prison for two hearts that might
find love.
Why sacafice happiness,
and the time in your life that slips away,
for materialistc reasons?
Take the challenge in life,
and live not only exist.
Sometime with small children,
maybe it's better to stay together,
but it comes a time,
when one has to put others aside.
and find their own happiness,
not because of selfishness,
but because each of us are worthy
of happiness.
Sometime we over sacrifice,
and at the end ,
it steals everyone's happiness,
our sacrifice was for
nothing,
and when we don't let our family see,
that our feelings and life are important.
and we let them become accustom to
our sacrifice.
than they will expect us ,
to always sacifice ,
taking away their understanding,
of give and take.
No one should be made to feel guilty,
for wanting happiness and love.

Sometime I wish I could go past the human existence,

that must be meant for two people.
I just wish I could find
deeper feelings,
Maybe I am wanting more
than the human touch.

Walmart seems to have plans for change,
that I believe will cause the great giant to fall,

according to the ethic/age group etc,
instead of the one stop shopping center
with everything making it a attractive
idea for everyone,
and they plan to end the service of
layaways after Christmas,
which I believe will hurt them,
low income to moderate income people
use layaways for things that might not otherwise

even though it was 911 and day of sad memories..
Also I thought this news was amazing,
and wonderful,
Hammasa Kohistani
became the first ever Muslim girl
to win Miss England beauty contest.
To me she has become another light
for opressed women.
I'm very happy for her.
She has courage and a brave heart,
I hope she wins the Miss World contest,
I can't imagine any young woman more
deserving to represent the world.
esp. in these times of fighting
terrorism,and oppression.
Today
I ate some real food!
BBQue Chicken and ribs
after 2 months of fish! yay!
I hope I don't gain weight back,
I won't do that often.

Today has been a very sad day,
but it's also been a day of reflection,
looking back,
and seeing the president,
at the moment of 911,
renews and reminds me,
of his deep emotion in that moment.
Random Thoughts In God we trust
I agree with this sentiment!
Subject: NBC This Morning
Now all we have to do is find someone in government who cares what we all
think!!
Believe in God?
NBC this morning had a poll on this question.
They had the highest number of responses that they have ever
had for one of their polls, and the percentage was the same as this:
86% to keep the words,
IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance
14% against.
That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't.
Now it is your turn ...
It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a fuss
about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Why is the world catering to this 14%?
AMEN!

I had a very special moment yesterday
when my18 yr old grandson sung a song I wrote.
Knight's Wll,
I was surprized tha he liked it,
because I wrote it,
but it touched his spiritual side,
It put tears in my eyes to hear
him sing it,it was beautiful,
He played his guitar,
he has a natural talent.
My daughter n law's birthday is 9-11
my brother's is 9-13
They will always have a sad memory
of 911 on their birthdays.
I will never understand why
sucide bombers give their lives,
or kill innocent people,
it's so heartbreaking,
How will there ever be a end
to war?

Computer repair men didn''t get $95.00 a hour from me this time!
Thank God for Microsoft technicians
Microsoft technicians talked me though fixing my computer,
I had a corrupt email file,
Outlook works now,
I hope the rest is ok!
I think it is!
I am so happy!
I did it myself with their help,
They spent 6 hours yesterday
and three hours tonight on the phone with me,
and called offering assistance,
I am totally impressed with Microsoft support!
Yay Microsoft!

I received this in email
Dialing 90# on your telephone
I dialed '0' and asked the operator who confirmed that this was correct so please pass it on.
PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW
I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service technician (could also be Telus) who was conducting a test on the telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused. Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE. The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW. After checking with Verizon they said it was true, so do not dial 90# for anyone ! !!!!

Maybe it's too late for me,
to find love.
I have a hard time giving up,
but I'm also starting to lose faith.
that it will happen.
The love that I can share life with.
I've been divorced for 24 years,
and it seems as if love
is only for dreams.
When I feel,
whatever it is,
that I feel,
Im so unsure of the other's feelings,
It seems as if I've waited forever to love,
and to be loved.

HEALTH QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FOR THE NEW YEAR 2006
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life;
is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it ...
don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually.
Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer;
that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer?
Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay
and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing
more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your
system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of
field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100%
of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled
wine,
that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get
even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.
Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to
one.
If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.,
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular
exercise program?
A: Can't think of a! single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No
Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable
oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more
vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around
the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You
should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO ...... Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!!
It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had
about food and diets. And remember: "Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -
Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

I spent the day getting music together
for my mom,
the old songs!
Got her a small cd player,

she loves music.
and I love to be able to give
her enjoyment in life.
She always seems to be able
to laugh.
The drs told he
the other day she is
legally blind,
that worries me!
I'm giving her a cd with the song on it,
In my daughter's eyes
I see my mother as my hero,
and believe my daughters see me as theirs,
this is a beautiful song,
sung by Martina McBride,
dedicated to my mother and daughters.
In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow up and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

It seems perhap to have high morals,
is to be judgemental of others,
Esp. women,
some women are just struggling,
to survive,
as our soceity has a double standard,

Women of the bible,
Ruth who went to Boaz,

who was for centuries
considered a prositute,
were women trying to survive.
I believe the women,
were smiled on by God,

60: The New 45
August 30, 2006 08:41:11 PM PST
By E.J. Mundell
HealthDay Reporter
WEDNESDAY, Aug. 30 (HealthDay News) -- Thirty years ago, Olga Bloom, a professional violinist living in New York City, was celebrating her 57th birthday and thinking hard about how she'd spend whatever years lay ahead.
"I didn't retire," said Bloom, now 87, in a recent interview. "I had stopped working in New York as a musician, but I knew I wasn't just going to sit in a garden and 'wait.' "
Instead, she bought herself a barge.
With it, Bloom founded Barge Music, and today she still runs her decades-old chamber music "floating concert hall" that is anchored in New York City's East River.
As she "pushes toward 90," Bloom said she's grateful for the time and opportunity she's had to help others while doing something she loves. Her advice to the estimated 78 million Baby Boomers who are now reaching age 60: "Look around you, and find that place to be generous."
Many of the millions of Americans born between 1946 and 1964 are taking Bloom's advice to heart. Experts say the post-World War II generation is changing the very definition of "old" age. For many, 60 is the not only the new 50 -- it's the new 45.
"There was this magical age of 65 proposed for retirement in the 19th century, but I think that's very out of fashion now," said Bloom's physician, Dr. Barbara Paris, vice chairwoman of medicine and director of the department of geriatrics at Maimonides Medical Center, in New York City.
"Baby Boomers just aren't thinking that way anymore," she said. "Especially if they have financial independence, they're going to retire from whatever boring job they have and do what they want to do for the next 20, 30 years."
Statistically speaking, the average 60-year-old American can look forward to at least another 20 years of life, Paris said, and probably more. In fact, the insurance industry recently revamped its actuarial tables to reflect life spans that now top-off at a grizzled 120.
The world's oldest man, a Puerto Rican named Emiliano Mercado del Toro, turned 115 last week. And the oldest woman, Maria Esther de Capovilla of Ecuador, died Monday at 116, the Associated Press reported.
Paris said very few people can expect to live that long, but "it's reasonable that more of us will live to be over 100."
There's also a continuing trend toward what experts call the "compression of morbidity."
"Essentially, the bad things that happen when you are sick is being compressed now into a shorter period at the very end of your life," Paris explained. That means that today's over-60s can expect less debilitating, chronic illness than their parents faced, giving them more active, productive lives.
"In fact, whereas death rates are declining now by about 1 percent per year, morbidity is declining twice as quickly, at 2 percent per year," Paris said.
Better health is even changing the nature of geriatrics, said Paris, who's been practicing in the field for more than 30 years. "When I started out, anybody over 65 was my patient," she said. "Now, I rarely see a patient under 75."
She credits the increasing pep of America's older citizens on improvements in preventive medicine, advances in drug development and innovative medical technologies -- especially in areas such as joint replacement and the management of cardiovascular disease.
Drugs such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra have even given a boost to aging Americans' sex lives. One recent U.S.-European study found men in their 50s were now happier with their sex lives than men in their 30s. In another survey, conducted in 1998, 43 percent of both men and women over 60 said sex was as good for them now as it was in their youth.
The notion of retirement is changing, too. According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), recent polls of Americans age 40 and over found two-thirds saying they would work well past 65. For some, financial pressures and a lack of retirement funding make this more of a necessity than a choice. "But even that reflects the perception that they will be healthy enough to work," a spokesman for the AARP said.
Many older people are choosing to embark, as Bloom did, on second careers in a field they love. Others are following a more gradual change in lifestyle.
"They're working part-time, maybe changing their position within their institution or work environment," Paris said. The era of the "golden handshake" as a final good-bye to the workplace is fading, she said.
There's a downside to everything, of course, even when it comes to extended health and longevity.
"I have patients in their 90s who are still very functional, but many say they don't really want to live much longer, because all of their friends are gone," Paris said. "And in some very sad cases -- not unheard of -- a 90-year-old parent may become the caregiver for a 70-year-old child with cancer or some other illness."
Older workers can also find it tough to compete in the job market, especially when young people fresh out of school will work for relatively little money. "As a society, we're not set up for them in a positive way," Paris said. "Despite everything, this is still a country that's youth-oriented, where young is beautiful and old is ugly. It's terrible."
Still, for a growing number of people, a 60th birthday marks a new beginning -- not the beginning of the end.
For Bloom -- who still spends most of her waking hours on the East River managing Barge Music -- it's all about giving back.
"Generosity is necessary," she said. "You have to give yourself to others, in whatever capacity you can."

Love
I have really seen things in my grandson's girlfriend,
that I like.
Hidden qualities.
She is very quiet at times,
but she has a very strong personality.
and I can see that she loves my grandson.
He lost his job,and was going though
a very hard time.
He laid his hand on her lap,
and she gently touched him,
at the moment I knew she loves him deeply.
She is very thoughtful of me too,
and I like that.
Whenever I go somewhere
with them ,
she will get in the back seat.
to let me ride up front,
a respect I think,
and very sweet.
She seems to keep my grandson in line.
haha.
I have never seen a young man so happy
about becoming a father .
He goes to all of the dr appts,
with her and sees the baby during
the ultra sounds.
He even made 'grandpa go'my son.
Haha.
He's back in school,
and will graduate this year.
and I'm sure he will find a new job,
He';s a very responsible ,dependable
hard working man,
however he decked his girlfriend's ex boyfriend
out when he came into where he worked,
which turned into a learning experience,
that he has to be in control of
his temper,
and can't fight on the job, lol,
I think the boy knew he was there.
and instigated the fight.
He's growing up,
Im very proud of him.
and I think he will be a wonderful father.
He's very motivated and has determation.
About work,
His father instilled those qualities in him.
Which means my son is a good father too,
and Im equally proud of him.
My grandson has turned out to be
a lot like him.
so I know he will have a good life.
I see my son's reflection
in him.
Sometime I see small things,
things inpeople others might
not see or be aware of,
and I can feel there love,
and find the goodness inside.
My grandson and his girlfriend.
are very loving people,
my grandson looks like the tough guy,
6'1/230,
but he has a very soft heart.
I have not found love,
but Im very happy that each of my children.
and my grandson have wonderful people in their lives,
and have found love and happiness.
You can see the love in her eyes,
when my daughter n law speaks my son's name.
My son n law treats my daughter like a princess,
and my other daughter's boyfriend .
always does wonderful things for her as well.
My family are lucky n love
Which by the way is my son and grandson's last name,
lol,
Lucky With Jeremy the man he is,
is deep, not showing the world,
only those who look deeply.
He is very spiritual,
one day there was a storm ,
a few years ago,
and I asked him to find the weather
station of tv.
as he surfed the channel looking for the
weather channel,
he found a religious broadcasting
station and preacher was on their speaking,
and my grandson said,look meme,
there is no need to find the weather station.
We will be ok,God is here
Than there was the time when the show
The Passion came on.
I knew it would be sad.
so I was undecided about wanting to see it,
But it was my grandson Jeremy
who came in and insisted,
come go to see the Passion with me meme.
Those moments stay with me,
simple moments,but deeply feeling.
My grandson Dustin 13 has what seems a calm personality.
and is the sweetest , and was always easiest to manage child,
but he also has a little dare devil in him.
He used to stand on the middle bar while riding
a bike at 6,never saw a kid do that.
he scared me!now he's a skate boarder!
My guys are very adventuruos.
not sure how that happened/lol,
and they are very close to each other.
I laugh because my little 4'10 daughter
can keep them in line better than I can, haha.
My son has been a good example,
a good father,
a adventure seeker,
not afraid to live.
It was neat when my grandkids from overseas were here.
it was as if they had never been gone,
my grand daughter speaks for languages,
and laughs at me for only speaking one,
haha
