Information About the Arco Program

To qualify for this program a person has to have an IQ of 70 or below. This program gives cuts to employers that hire the handicapped. This program also exempts employers from having to pay minimum wage. People from this program, welfare forced work reform programs, and waitresses are all exempt from employers being required to pay them minimum wage. The minimum wage law is a law that states it is for all people regardless of age, race, nationality, or handicap. The minimum wage law is broken. The mentally handicapped and forced labor programs pay sixty cents a hour or sixty dollars a month. These programs are slave labor programs that exploit our mentally handicapped and socially disadvantaged citizens, America should be above slave labor programs. There should be programs for the mentally handicapped, and socially disadvantaged, but it should be in areas of art, and computers I have seen those with learning disabilities learn quickly to use a computer, more quickly and sometimes better than a well educated person that has no disability. Alone I�m but a small voice, but, together as a great nation, we can speak out against slave labor programs that our fore fathers have fought so desperately against. We can be the voice for our citizens that have no voice, and speak out for their equality.

Panic Attacks: "The Secret Prison"

A person tries so hard to hide it even from him/herself. Panic attacks come on like a heart attack without a warning. It is a very similar feeling and hard to detect which makes it even scarier. When a person has a panic attack they are frozen in fear. This is not cowardice. Panic attacks become a private hidden secret inner prison that destroys a person�s life and self-esteem. I believe a defective gene causes panic attacks that is inherited, or a chemical imbalance in the brain. Too few people understand panic attacks and anxiety disorders including those who have to live with them. Panic attack disorders turn a person's life into a hidden secret prison of fear causing anger and a lack of understanding, from family, friends and even more from one's own self. Panic attacks are not a feeling or a fear that one has control over. This is a fear that freezes a person so that he/she is not always able to get past it. The person that lives with it is the person that hurts the most. They rarely get understanding or emotional support from anyone including them self, and are subject to a lack of compassion and insensitivity. This disorder does not always come from a way of thinking, or a bad past experience, although that could trigger it more. This disorder has not been studied enough to know the true causes of it. The public is not well informed concerning the facts about Panic disorders and anxiety. People who have panic attacks want to live, not just exist They want a fear free normal life, but are locked in a secret inner prison of fear For some there is no escape. People that live with this disorder are braver than anyone knows, for they have to find courage for doing things for every day pleasure. To live a normal life for someone with a panic attack disorder takes extreme courage and is not always possible. Sometime this courage comes and sometime the person is frozen in fear. The chest tightens, there is no way to handle the fear factor, the feeling that is paralyzing and comes from out of nowhere. Medications do not always alleviate the panic attacks, A person does not choose to have panic attacks, Who would choose to live in a prison of fear? A person who lives with panic attacks does not truly live,we merely exist. Panic attacks are I think a abnormal gene just the opposite of those who seek extreme danger and excitement ,which is also a abnormal reaction to the fear factor.

More on theory thoughts and feelings about panic attacks

I am not a doctor or a professional person,but I am a person that lives with panic attacks and I read information on subjects that interest me, also write my theory,thoughts and feelings concerning them. People give so many varied points of view on how one should deal with them. Persons that have panic attacks not only have to deal with the panic attacks ,they have to deal with people who have a lack of understanding and arguments at the same time. I've had attacks recently on my spirituality and faith, that I should put my panic attacks in God's hands and He will take them away. I do have a strong belief in God but there are some things He doesn't do and I do not question God and why He doesn't do them.Such as bringing a deceased loved one back to life although He did bring Lazarus back it's not a common practice for Him. I don't blame God for my misfortunes and I am slowly learning not to blame myself. God does not always change the natural order of nature or things in nature that go wrong ,such as earth quakes,they happen and He does not stop them. and He does not stop my panic attacks. There are those who say face your fears, just do it any way, But that does not work for me, I can not force these feelings to go away or overcome them, Than there is medication which helps to a point but does not totally end the situation. Than there is knowledge that you are having one,knowing helps to a certain extent,understanding one's self and realizing it is a panic attack that a person is having,but it doesn't totally stop them either. There is a lack of understanding from others. Those that have had them and overcome them can sometime have the least understanding, They feel they overcome their fears why can't I? But not everyone is the same or has the same degree of panic attacks and fears. I have always believed it to be a generic disorder and have read studies about the release of endorphins in the brain some people's brain release too much and some too little,both or disorders,one causing panic attacks the other causing a need for excitement and danger. Panic attacks is a condition very hard to understand or live with, But the good news is those that have panic attacks are afraid to kill themselves and are highly unlikely to commit suicide...smiles.

Advice to parents who's child is entering college.

Make sure that your child has taken two foreign language credits ,so they will qualify for Tops scholarships.

Ask your high school counselor for applications for scholarships ,they rarely suggest that to you,your student has to inquire.

As long as your student has a 2.5 there are a lot of scholarships that your student may qualify for, starting this process should be in the 10th grade

. The sooner the better. There will be a new word in your vocabulary ,called purge,

The way to avoid finding out the definition of this word is to make sure all financially aid is taken care of in advance,also make sure classes are confirmed. Be Prepared.

For those who will be living in a dorm make sure it is reserved. The Procrastinator will have problems.
Know the numbers of financial aid,comptrollers,admissions,housing.and your college website.
Keep up with important information.
Be prepared for surprise financial problems ,such as the financial aid not coming though in time.

Classes will be purged which means canceled for your student if there is a financial problem.

A student has to have at least a 2.0 to qualify for financial assistance,which is harder than it sounds,college classes run shorter and are more difficult the high school classes were for your child.

Nothing is discussed concerning your child with the parent. But the university will accept your money.

Counselors at college are there for the purpose of advising classes for the major your child chooses, they don't advice them on other issues.

Very intellect students who excelled in high school can find that they struggle in college.

A student needs to developed good study skills.

College is very expensive and can lead to a huge financial loans that will have to be repaid.

It's a hard struggle for both students and parents.

When one fails ,encourage them to seek a new direction for failure is not the end of the world.

The hardest thing there is for a parent is to let your child go,let them have their own experiences ,successes and failures,both good and bad,and learn from them and become strong responsible independent adults.

A college education is not for everyone,some have succeeded well without a formal education,but it does open doors of opportunities.

Living in a dorm is very hard from the young adults who find they need to live there,sharing a small room with a stranger,sometime they build lasting friendships,other times they often find they are in a unhappy surrounding. Not all students even have a means of transportation and are at the mercy of the hearts of others,which often means they are alone, with four small walls crowding in, causing depression, which effects their school work.

Mr.President and other Americans that believe it's a good thing to do this, play the game monopoly, You don't sale your train depots,utilites,You hold Boardwalk.. Helloooo!! This is a situation that will effect the country forever. I have no education, But I have enough sense to know, you don't sale your countries ports to other countries, giving them the control of your ports, How stupid have you become????? Wake up America! This is the most stupid action our president has made! A decision that effects the entire country forever if it's allowed, this situation should stay in the news, upfront! American Citizenship

I'm the daughter of an American soldier and with that comes pride of my American heritage, and love and pride for our country. I have thought of myself as being a patriot, which I am. But I have found out to my dismay, that we as Americans have not gone to any length to know enough about our country. I feel very lucky that I was born here. Online there is a citizenship test, similar to the test that those from other countries are required to take. I took the test and made a score of 6 out of a possible 11. I regarded that as a low score but the test said not that bad. I was disappointed in myself, a daughter of a ww2 vet, who knew so little about my country. It amazes me that those from other countries would sacrifice so much, Their families and those they love to come to a country so different from their own. They have to live in America five years, obtain good employment, and there are those that even marry American citizens to obtain citizenship to our country. Many of them learn our language and have countless obstacles to overcome to stay in our country and obtain a citizenship that I have taken so easily for granted. It makes me more grateful that I was born here, and it has opened my eyes that I need to be more informed about how country.

Mental Health

There is a stigma on the word mental health, as if it is a crime to have any mental or emotional illness. People are sometime shunned as if they have a contagious disease, or considered dangerous to society,which makes people hesitate to seek out mental health professionals. There is a difference between the criminally insane, and those who suffer from other mental or emotional disorders, they should not be lumped in the same group or category. No one wants to be labeled as having mental or emotional heath issues. If society would take the stigma away from the word mental health. more people would seek professional help, instead of trying to cope with their problems alone, and hiding them in a closet. And who do the professionals go to for their own mental health issues? Perhaps they feel the greatest need to conceal their own issues, instead of seeking help

In one hand-out the other

The government puts money in one hand, for those who are on fixed incomes, and than takes money out of the other hand, example; raise on income; higher rent on housing subsidies, or less entitlement on food . Elderly,handicapped,and those below poverty.do not realize a raise in income, because the raise is adjusted in other areas,and for many ,the adjustment is equal to the raise.

Drawbacks of managed care

Managed health care providers are seeing patients on a monthly basis to provide general long-term management of health care. But what many of the Medicaid and Medicare recipients do not realize is that there is a limited number of visits they can make. Then they will have to pay $50 out of their pocket for doctor visits. Unwanted babies don't have to die

Anyone can bring an infant less than 31 days of age at a fire station, Ambulance, Police station, medical clinic, pregnancy crisis center, Hospital, health unit as long as the child has not been abused. The child has to be left with a person...not in a bathroom or doorstep. The parent does not have to give her name and the child will be taken care of. They do get some information on how to contact the DSS to find about the child. The parent also has 30 days if they change their mind that they could reclaim rights...its been going on in LA since 2000.

prescription override

I find a little humor and a little concern in the Medicaid' procedure, after 8 prescriptions , you have to get a dry to do a over ride, deeming it medically necessary to have the prescription what dry ever gives a prescription that isn't medically necessary, it seems like the tax payers,pay for more paper work, and the Medicaid/Medicare recipients and their doctors,nurses,medical office ,pharmacists. have to go to a lot of extra time consuming work, to get medications approved.. by having to deem them.. medically necessary. What college educated genius came up with that idea?? The Medicaid program has up to 72 hours to respond, which can mean a patient has to wait up to 72 hours before getting needed medication.

With the President's promise to rebuild the gulf and New Orleans,wher will the money come from?He has no plan for tax cuts,programs will be cut,,which ones/Medicaid for the elderly?Head start??There are so many needy programs that may be cut,when he won't plan a tax cut for those who could afford it, The rebuilding of the Gulf and New Orleans will most likely further hurt this country's poor.

Child of the storm/lost family

It's sad they couldn't keep families together or have had some method of recording who was rescued and where they were sent,It's very sad to see so many lost and displaced families,esp.children.my heart goes out to them.

Next Year's Hurricane

They are just fixing the levees to withstand a cal 3, When a cal 5 hits next year they won't have the problem solved, and will be facing another Katrina in New Orleans. Seems like the government would learn to do it right the first time.

Hurricane evacuate

How do you evacuate a hurricane if you don't have money? Answer me that?" Some of those who did have money, and did try to get out, didn't get very far. Than there are those who do and end up in the shelters that are very hard to stay in, losing privacy,sanity,and the feeling of safety of a home. Evacuate to what,for some may still be stuck on the road.Hopefully not! There has to be a evacuation for the hope to save lives,but sometime the evacuation is a storm its self, Such as the elderly that died on the bus this morning when the bus exploded at 6 am. There were unknown heroes in passing cars that tried to rescue them. Thank God 11 people on that bus lived. It seems as if the malfunction of brakes should have someone held responsible .

It's amazing that it's possible to fly a airplane through the eye of a hurricane, They can't do that with a Tornado.If I remember right a Tornado's winds are from two different directions is the reason they can't fly into a Tornado but can a hurricane. Also if I remember correctly.here is some more information I learned. Hurricane's are created close To Africa and the Equator,because of the warm water and the speed of the spinning of the inner core of the earth,I hope I remembered that right,I've been getting a lot of lessons from the weather man,news,and Bill Nye the Science guy,lol. Mother Nature is a constant learning experience,Very fascinating, I may not be remembering this information correctly.

Victims

Whatever a person is a victim of ,crime or accident, When he takes his case to court.he becomes a victim for the second time.
Going through a legal battle in court can be a very emotional and traumatic experience where often the victim becomes the defendant.
A good lawyer will often find a lack of evidence ,
where some people such as Michael Jackson and O.J.Simpson are found innocent.
When a victim takes his case to court he becomes the defendant.
He has become the victim of the lawyers and the court.
This happens even in cases that are not high profile.
Victims that know what they will be subjected to sometime choose to remain silent leaving others in danger.
Victims that choose to go to court seeking justice do not always find it ,but it will be at a cost of emotional trauma to try to find justice.

First they rule prayer is not constitutional so they take prayer out of school,now a California Judge rules our pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional and can't be said in school. My dad a ww2 soldier would turn over in his grave if he heard that the pledge of Allegiance of our American flag has become unconstitutional! If people don't want to say the pledge of allegiance to our flag and our country, they need to leave!!

Banning 17 year old strip clubs is also unconstitutional a ruling today by a judge in Seattle. The legal system is going to extremes of being nuttssss, and has lost all judgment! First the pledge is unconstitutional to be said in schools now 17 year old strip clubs can't be banned,all in one day,what's next today???? Education and random thoughts

There is value on a college education and of course there is a greater chance of success to have one,but a college education is not for everyone,I believe that the most important thing about education is not how you obtain it,but to continue to find new learning experience and to keep finding new ways to developed your mind, and improve yourself. I'm not ashamed of my lack of formal education. I'm not going to disguise of shortcomings are failures. But I am a very rounded person that can also see the talent and good qualites I have,so I won't sell myself short either. I want to be open about the things I've done, and accomplished without a education, to let people understand,that you can still be a very intelligent artiste person,without having a formal or college education. After having sent my daughter to college who is still a struggling senior in micro biology, it has given me a new respect for those who do succeed in college , I have watched my son with all the motivation he has overcome obstacles and have his own business, The most important thing I realized ,was to find something that motivates a person,and for them to go in that direction. I also learned failures ,do not make you less of a person,it was just a experience,than you let go of it,and try something new, Life seems to be the best education. One last random thought about education. Send a president to school,he learns to hold a book upside down, But can he read it???ha-ha..

The justices rejected an appeal of the decision that dismissed a lawsuit by two attorneys who had challenged as unconstitutional the phrase over the main entrance to the county's government center in Lexington, North Carolina. The phrase, written in 18-inch block letters, was more prominently displayed than the name of the building, which was the only other writing on the front facade, according to the lawsuit. A U.S. appeals court ruled that the lawsuit failed to show that the display had no legitimate secular purpose, that it has the effect of endorsing religion or that it has resulted in an excessive entanglement of government and religion. The appeals court said Congress first authorized the phrase "In God We Trust" on coins in 1865, and Congress made it the national motto in 1956. It is inscribed above the speaker's chair in the U.S. House of Representatives and above the main door of the U.S. Senate chamber. Wed August 17th, Day that sucked! Morning....It seems as if I had the famous computer virus,so after going to Trend and downloading something to repair that and downloading Netscape since some of the problem seemed to be in the internet explorer,I thought I'd get away from the stress and go shopping...You know how women loveee to shop!!I was over charged at the store,I had to argue to get my money back...After leaving angry the manager chased me down and returned my money apologizing for the rude employee.
Evening...I Went shopping,I needed to buy my mother a tshirt,my grandson a birthday present and a graduation gift for my daughter's boyfriend's brother, aso a pair of jeans for myself because I'd lost a little weight and needed a smaller size...Wal Mart had long lines and no checkers... I had another disagreement ...Wal Mart manger wouldn't return lay away money because I'd lost my driver's license,I had the receipt,The pants on lay away were too big,I lost weight and had planned to just pay at that moment for smaller pants....He was rude...A skinny white guy on a power trip..ha-ha...I bought the t-shirt my mother wanted that said' I can't take it any more' There was only one tshirt left,I needed one too!
I called a cab to return home. 3-hour wait...The cab company said look for a gray van.no air conditioner...I sit in the back seat.. The Cab driver looked like a young black thug,Evidently the police thought so too...They pulled him over ....he was told to get out of the car, I was told to stay in,I had recently lost my driver's license somewhere. and only had a very old driver's license on me that had my ex married name which I no longer use,after finally getting to speak ,I told the police officer I was a passenger in a cab..Imagine that...a gray van...It took him a few minutes to buy that..
Finally he let us go telling the cab driver to take me home . And New Yorkers complain about their cab service!Cab fare$12.00 I'm still trying to decide if it was funny..ha-ha

Yes I will most likely shop again at Wal Mart,it's affordable although the employees are very rude and the service is now bad, due to panic attacks and saving other people's lives from my driving,I'll most likely take a cab!!Another sucking day to look forward to soon!! ha-ha

That used to be a quote of my dad's and my mother was reminded of that when her heart dr prescribed her medication,and while he was off another dr took her off of the medication which resulted in her having a heart attack.

Act of God/Act of Man

The hurricane Katrina was a act of God,the levee that flooded the New Orleans area was a act of men ,and government,and the late response from our government cost lives, people floating in the water,or dying in the attic that could have been saved,people starving for food and water, The government should have sent the military in right away as they would have done for a foreign country or perhaps a earthquake in the west,people suffered and died needlessly,and more could have been done ,and quicker!Sorry but this is my feelings and my heart,10,000 people in New Orleans alone is most likely dead,and our government is very much at fault to my disappointment in our country and our government,I am very patriotic,but there needs to be changes,had our government put out money for the saving of the wetlands and made the levee strong enough to stand up against a 5 when they knew it would just stand a 3,this wouldn't have happened as devastatingly,we will also have a major gas shortage,because La is a big supplier of gas,and this will effect the whole country and be a major crisis financially for more than the cost would have been to avoid it.
The heroes are the armed forces and the men and women that have rescued others,amidst the danger

I have just recently thought about Washington DC because I would love to visit there soon. I find it very odd but interesting that our nation's capital is not in a state ,and although the citizens pay taxes they don't to my understanding have a senator to represent them and their own special needs.Washington seems as if it's small country within a country.

sentence I felt myself fall into a black bottomless pit
speeding downward a heaviness crushing my chest,
it seems so infinite in time,
but it must have been only a few seconds,
I opened my eyes and saw a line across my back ,
embedded ,burning the indentions of the cable into my back.
My grandson's stroller was turned upside down he was screaming,
my other grandson pale white to frightened to move believing
I had been killed. as I had felt I had died.
The grass was on fire on the side of the road close to us,
lines laid everywhere.I somehow found the strength to jump up
and pull my grandsons to me, screaming at the truck driver for help
.He couldn't move out of his truck as I later realized,
powerlines covered his truck and the area we were.Than men from the nearby apt .complex
came and put out the fire moving us to safety ,
a ambulance came and took me to the hospital,
the radiologist threw my blouse away because it was badly burnt.
I know God had saved us that day I believe with all of my heart,
I would not have lived if He had not watched over us. Feb.17,05
Today it happened again.
It looked cloudy this morning as I left the house but turned
into a beautiful day although a little cold.
I had a appt this morning and after I left my appt.
I crossed a street,
having looked and crossing on a cross walk at the hospital it seemed safe.
Than from nowhere in a split second there was a red car,
a woman's eyes opened wide ,
she was terrified that she had hit me ,
it was so close her car almost touched me,
I realized at that moment if God had not been with me ,
I would have been killed.
I have a deep conviction in God
and in the fact that in peril He has kept me safe.

Public Assistance

People see those that are unemployed and on public assistance as lazy, but not everyone has the same inner strength,physical or emotional endurance, or the same intellect to finish school,or even at times hold a job.There are many obstacles, such as transportation, child services, emotional problems,low self esteem,and a lack of encouragement. Mental and Emotional Illness

A subject that seems to be taboo is mental and emotional illness. If a person has a physical illness or handicap we are quick to show concern and understanding. It seems too many of us seem to feel emotional and mental illness is something to be ashamed of or avoided. The world lacks understanding and empathy for mental and emotional illness. Too few of us realize that there are those who have suffered emotional and mental illness, That has contributed to the world in a way that centuries later their work is still preserved. An artist like Van Gogh is the perfect example. It seems that who we choose to associate with reflects our own perception of which we are. When it's someone less than perfect we feel less than perfect through our association with him or her. We expect people to do, act, and react in a certain way. I wonder if we are angry at their imperfections are the ones we see in our self Some people have panic attacks. There is a lack of understanding or empathy. We as a country have made mental and emotional illness into something to be ashamed of. So many people suffer many forms of emotional and mental illness but remain quiet, Suffering alone to avoid being labeled. People seem to believe they need to identify with perfect minds. bodies, faces. and mental and emotional well being. Television and theater have captured our minds and thoughts of how we should be. We are afraid to know who we really are. No acting for me anymore, personally I'm ready to walk off stage, and just be true to myself. BR>

The Homeless

Do you ever stop to wonder where the homeless person came from? What caused the situation? Is it impossible to find solutions to help them, to have a home again and to get their life back,or is it that we turn our back, and walk by without giving them another thought? Some are mentally ill and should be treated, others are young teens that have left one bad situation for a worse one, going from the frying pan to the fire. Some of the homeless are vets, after fighting a war for our country, they come home to emotional and mental illness and to a homeless situation. Our vets should not be homeless on the streets. Than there are those who have the misfortune of drug abuse. Young women and men that can't make enough money to support themselves. become prostitutes trying to survive, putting their life and health at risk. Homeless can be created from loss of employment. It's sad to know in our country of America, The greatest country of all. There is so much poverty, and homelessness. and so many that turn a blind eye.

Women that find their in abusive situations sometime feel as if there is no way out.
Financially they are not always independent of their partner.
Emotionally they feel they need a person in their life regardless of the situation,
their fear of being alone is greater than their fear of abuse.
Than the person that abuses often seeks and finds sympathy.
The abused person is often a person that was subjected to abuse their self.
Both people suffer from low self esteem.
The abuser is ashamed and often doesn't seek help.
The person that is abused is often ashamed too.
Society has made mental and emotional illness into something to be ashamed of,
which holds many people back from seeking the help they need.
Sometime we hurt the ones we love the most.
But lives depend of finding a solution to the crisis.

Forgiveness There are times forgiveness seems like a guilt, Forgiving someone for what they do to you personally isn't as hard.as forgiving someone that has hurt someone you love, That's where the feelings of guilt comes in. You feel as if you are going against the person that was hurt by forgiving the one that wronged. But to learn to forgive whatever the situation teaches others to forgive. Hate hurts the one that feels hate,more than the one that receives it.Hate fills a person's heart, and hurts, When you can learn to forgive. you can end the feeling of hate. It seems after love is gone we try to replace that extreme feeling for another extreme feeling.hate. The only way to find and feel peace is through forgiveness of others and of yourself.

It's a wonderful gift that holds the key to any door of interest and learning. You don't need a formal education or typing skills, just a basic knowledge that anyone can learn, Computers seem to come with instructions, letting you know when you have a error, Spell check, making anyone a perfect speller, I should use spell check more often. It's amazing! At the click of a mouse you have any information a person could need. I wish my father were alive, He would have loved computers, He had a thirst for mind expanding activities.

I'm sure God looks at us with tears for those who use different religions for war, and murder.There may be different religions, and different beliefs of our existence,But there is only one creator,One God.Whatever our race is ,the color will someday be removed, and we will be bare,with only our heart and our soul,the spirit of who we are,at that moment,race and religion,or differences will have no meaning. Respecting each other's religious belief, I think, is essential for us to find peace in the world. All Muslims are not dangerous or wanting to blow up themselves or anyone else that is only extreme Muslims. Most Muslim people are very normal people with good hearts who live lives just like ours, playing sports, having homework,school,jobs, shopping, vacations just the normal family life with more teaching of prayers, self-discipline, and a deep love for God. They are taught to pray several times a day, and they have a month-long fast. Contrary to other people's belief, they do believe in Jesus as a great prophet, and Allah means God. The American Muslim is proud to be an American. Just because they are of a different faith that people do not understand, they are often misjudged. They are beginning to experience the greatest of all racisms, out of fear and misunderstanding. I am of the Christian faith, and I believe with all of my heart to be a Christian is not to judge who will go to heaven based on religious belief, but to love one another. I believe that is the beginning of peace. Normal Muslim people experience hatred and fear now because of the extremists. This would be like holding all Christians responsible for Waco or Jamestown. People fear the unknown, the unusual and the different. I believe hatred is started from fear and the lack of knowledge and understanding of each other. Terri I feel a deep sadness that civilized society has
developed a thirst to kill those who can not defend their self
or speak for their self
From the unborn child to the mentally and physically disabled
American courts have given others the right to legally murder those that inconvenient them.
I feel a heart ache that the court would allow Terri's husband
a man that has found a life with another woman,fathered two childrenand received a large settlement
to make life or death decisions while taking every right away from the mother who gave her life.

I don't know any of these children or their problems,
Nor am I involved in any organization,
But I know how it feels to come from a low income family.
My father was a disabled veteran of ww2 and my mother a waitress
who raised 3 children while my father was in and out of
hospitals,and I personally have been a single mother,
and realize how hard it is to provide for needs,
and every mother wants to give her child more.
A single mother struggles to provide for her child and is usually feeling very alone.
I hope those who read this will go a little extra this
year,and find a needy child to give a little magic to.
There is magic in giving too.
Not everything is a scam,there are real organizations of people
that want to help the less fortunate,but they need resources,
Children of soldiers.and vets,children of Katrina.Children of
prisoners,Children of disabled,children of poverty,

What better way to say thank you to a soldier's family for his sacrifice?
or give a child hope and faith when their parent in prison has given them a life of disillusions,and lost dreams.

Christmas

To me Christmas is not only religious significance, but a reminder ,what ever your circumstance in life, to strive to make the world a better place to live, and what ever your circumstance is,one person can make a difference to the world. To me Christmas needs no certain date, December 25th..or perhaps June 17th, as some believe do to planet alignment,etc.. A June starry night, or a December night, with one bright star silver moon. Christmas is a symbol, of God's love for the world, A symbol of sacrifice and love. Christmas is a symbol of hope. And a beautiful reminder to have faith, in things unseen. A realization that life it's self is beyond understanding. There is no truer quote than 'To live every moment as if there is a God , is far better than to die believing there is no God, and to find out than, that God does exist.' Every teaching of Jesus, Every parable was to improve life, give hope,offer peace,wisdom and faith. What ever a person's faith is, Christmas is a beautiful message., to all that choose to accept it. God sends a baby,God's Son as a reminder of how precious love and life are, and how much we are loved by Him. He has given the world a Christmas gift. Maybe the gift came in December, Maybe the gift came in June, What matters is not the date the gift came, But that we received the gift.

First they take prayer out of school,than the ten commandments were under attack,taking God out of the oath,the pledge,and anywhere God's name is wrote as a motto of respect to God.created by our fore fathers who came here seeking freedom to worship God.

Watching the news earlier, I am very disappointed at what is happening to this country. So-called political correctness is just taking it too far. I mean, it's ridiculous not to be able to wish someone a "Merry Christmas;" the ACLU now wants to force everyone to use the term "Happy Holidays" instead. What is wrong with these people? I wouldn't be offended if someone wished me a happy Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. The thing that really angers me about it is not that they are trying to make it include all holidays, because they are not. I respect all religions and their holidays. The spokesman for the Shreveport chapter of the ACLU specified, on tv, that it was Christmas that is offensive - he said nothing about holidays of any other religion! If the ACLU does not apologies for that statement, I am going to sue for discrimination! Ha-ha.

people would want euthanasia ... ????

people would want euthanasia ... physician-assisted suicide - I don't see the physician committing suicide on his self. Why do they support assisted suicide? They are still alive... No suicidal thoughts for their own self. But assisting others . I find that interesting. I'll never forget watching Paul McCarthy's wife Linda looking so beautiful as she rode a horse, making numerous jumps on a video made the day before her assisted suicide, and I thought, she may have rode again next week. Life is too precious to allow a moment to be stolen.it was very sad.

Love

Carefree Days For Children?

8 hours of school
30 mins to eat a lunch they don't like
about a 15 -30 min ride home on a crowded bus,
homework may be about 2 hours
chores.
Homework expected to learn or be helped by parent.
Some parents aren't qualified to help , because they don't know it their self.
Than the student makes a bad grade due to not understanding the work,
resulting in punishment of grounding, sometimes more.
Being told what to eat,when to sleep, What to drink,what to think. etc,
Add the peer pressure ,drugs,gangs,violence, parental problems,broken homes ,divorced or single parent homes.
Give a child a test in school, and tell him he can't pray.
Anyone want their childhood back?
Or maybe just stick to the 9 to 5 job.

There are those who do not realize that the decisions they make do not just effect them,but effect those people who love them.and with each decision in life, there is a outcome or consequence that will effect the people, we love and that love us, So we need to make wise choices,and perhaps a little less selfish,not just thinking of ourselves,but how our decisions, may effect the lives of others.

Divorce

Divorce can be like falling into the ocean, not being able to swim,and at the same time, your children have fell into the ocean with you. You are having trouble saving yourself, and may not see them going under water. You are so involved in your own pain and heartache , you don't see theirs.and even if you do, you don't know how to save them,or help them, And sometime the child sees you as the person that threw them into the ocean. As the try to learn to swim on their own. They try to swim away from you. Each of you fighting for self preservation. The child looks at you and wonders why you didn't try to save him,without realizing it was because you were drowning yourself. and that you couldn't swim.

Katrina

My heart breaks for those who were in the path of Katrina,
and my prayers are with them.
I watched and wondered;Where is our armed forces?
Where are the Marines,the Army,the Navy,the Air Force?
Where were more boats and helicopters?There were just a few,
when there were so many to be saved.
It seemed as if quicker response from our government could have
saved New Orleans,and lives cold have been saved.
Yesterday was really unreal news,they plan to stop using 1,500
policemen in search and rescue and use them instead for
looting,that seems very nutttsss!
When is a tv more important than a life?
Our government knew Katrina was coming, and that devastation
could occur,but they weren't prepared for it.

We send our military overseas quicker to the emergencies of other country with quicker response than we do for our own.
Some soldiers are overseas fighting a war,
while their families are lost.

Evacuees don't get the right help It seems as if the Federal Emergency Management Agency would have had time to find people a place to live instead of keeping them in hotels for $150-250 a night, hotels that most likely lack transportation and a way for Katrina's evacuees to find jobs, places to live, etc. They could have bought homes for that kind of money. Instead the evacuees are about to be homeless. It seems as though their ideas of help have not worked for these people to be able to rebuild their lives. Without transportation, a means to go, it's only a expensive jail. They are rebuilding New Orleans without fixing the major problems to keep it from happening again, and building condos that only the wealthy can afford. Seems like a lot of well-educated people are very stupid. They are victims again,This time of bad Federal Emergency Management planning.

Welfare and Disablity

To qualify for any type of government assistance,welfare,disability,housing, each person is carefully screened and needs proof of their situation.
Welfare has become a slave labor program,because the employers that hire people on welfare or exempt from paying min wage and also receive a tax break.
Anyone that works should be entitled to min wage according to our min .wage law,that is equal pay of min wage,regardless of race,nationality or handicap.
Our government breaks that law and allows others to do so when hiring persons who receive welfare .
To receive any type of disability be prepared for a very long hard battle.
Your personal medical records aren't enough.
You are sent to the doctors who are hired by SS, and in their view you are capable of working.Going to court takes years and possibly more than one time for disabled to receive funds.
These needy people who have no means of transportation have endless appointments to go to for screening.
They can't always rely on family or friends.
When you are in need you feel very alone and ashamed,sometime too embarrassed to ask for help.
Perhaps that is the cause of some suicides.
For those who believe that people can automatically receive money from the government do not know how well people are screened.
Than when you finally receive disability,it is about $574.00 a month.
Imagine living on that and also imagine not having any means of transportation.
People on government assistance live in poverty or below poverty level are ashamed of their low income ,because of society's lack of acceptance people who receive government assistance.People who receive government assistance do so because of need often at the cost of their self respect,self esteem,pride and dignity

Poverty 's problems and the rising costs of dental care

From homelessness ,hungry, and medical needs our low income citizens are deprived of important and needed services.
The low income citizens can not afford such services as a dentist,
and there is nowhere for anyone over 21 to get help corrective treatments,
or be able to afford about $2,000 for total dental extractions for the dentures Medicaid will pay for only after all but two teeth have been extracted.
Dental problems does not always mean a person doesn't brush their teeth and try to care for them.
But when dental problems occur and a person can't get treatment because of a lack of money,
than the condition worsens,so if you see a person with dental problems,
Some people find it differcult to wear dentures because of the poor fit or gum problems.
keep your comments to yourself,they already know their problem.
Bad teeth can lead to other health problems,major pain,and self esteem problems.
A crown for one tooth, about $700.00
Medicaid pays only for dentures,but if a person can't afford to have the bad teeth pulled,they can't have it done.
There are so many problems still unsolved for the elderly,disabled,handicapped .

Soldiers Comforts

I can not understand why hunters have warm heat insulated gloves and face masks in the winter and our soldiers do not.
Men in women that are in our armed forces should have more comforts. Many soldiers suffer the heat in hot vehicles such as Bradleys while our government officials ride in air conditioned vehicles,why can't air conditioners be put in all military vehicles? We can send men into space with air conditioning,but there are vehicles in the military that don't have it,Heat causes fatigue ,illness,and weakness.

The Draft

I oppose the draft that is being considered because to fight a war takes courage and inner strength and conviction,that is what makes a soldier,and some people are not emotionally,mentally,physically able to handle the life of the military,this should be a individual choice not encouraged by family or anyone without the person that will decide to join the military knowing exactly what he or she is going to have to deal with,A choice of risking a person's life should be theirs alone to make,I highly support our military, and I feel that those that have chose to join the military have a courageous heart and should be honored, and given as many comforts as possible.The decision of a military life should be made only by those who have to live it,not politicians.I hope that our country isn't forced to go back to the draft.Our military are important and give us our freedom,but I hope that it will always be with choice for those who serve our country. It's not from a lack of patriotism that I oppose the draft,I support our military,but with the thought of realizing that not everyone has the courage and inner strength and conviction,and are not emotionally,mentally,physically able to handle the life of the military.I thank God for each soldier that has made the choice to help to keep freedom in our country.

Random thoughts on education

It's great to have a higher education, but there were 9 presidents that didn't, one was Abe Lincoln. You always hear remarks like, you don't like your job, get a education, what they don't tell you, those who are encouraging you... You may go and get that higher education, and there may not be a job opening once you graduate, but what you will have for sure, is a lot of student loans, even if you couldn't make it , because you have to keep a high gpa, percentage,and have the right classes available, as you sacrifice years of your life it's a gamble, that for some does not pay off. A person needs to be encouraged to find out everything about any life changing decisions, that will have a long term effect on their life, and they need to be informed about the consequences, if things don't go as planned. Than they have to be strong enough to survive if they come face to face with failure, and they need the courage to find a new dream. Most of all to make dreams come true, one needs a very strong motivation, and determination. College and education need good study skills, a person considering college needs to reconize their study skills, and if they aren't good, they need to work at developing them. Everyone needs encouragement to improve their self. But sometime they need someone to help them to face reality too.

Health professionals and emergency response people

Health professionals and emergency response people are every day people with personal problems too,but for some reason we try to avoid seeing them in the role of a normal person as if that would cause the public to lose faith in what they do professionally and in a crisis.This must cause even more stress for them to live up to the world's expectations not only professionally, but personally. Ordinary people that rise above ordinary to extraordinary in a crisis.

Crime

I think schools should give seminars on crime and sentences for crimes ,etc and that all students should get a tour of the local prisons and jails.There should also be a required anger management class taught at school. I think crimes are committed without thought of the consequence.

illegitimate or bastards Two words I never have agreed with or liked.and feel as if they do not belong anywhere. It's interesting that spell check doesn't have the correct spelling and of the word bastard,perhaps it agrees with me, There is no such thing. Society has connected a word to a person's worth, as if a piece of paper baring a father's name will make the child a better person, or not having his name will make him a lesser person. A person's worth has no baring on a name ob a piece of paper, There should not be a difference between a child who's name is or is not on a birth certificate, or whether the parents are married. Society seems to prejudge people and dehumanize them over the lack of what society calls illegitimate. Every person was born with the same worth,regardless of a name or lack of name on a piece of paper. Everyone deserves the same respect,regardless of the circumstance of birth. If there is a birthright for anyone, it is the same right for all of us, To have respect, and to be seen as someone of worth. There may be many reasons a father's name is not on the birth certificate or the parents didn't marry, But it doesn't take away from the worth of a child,although society tries to do that to innocent babies, branded them as if they were something to be ashamed of,when every baby is a miracle of life and a gift to the world.

Questions I have. Why do we close our military bases while making other countries military stronger? Why do we have cities such as New Orleans with no sea wall knowing they are built 6 feet below sea level,and are largely populated?Why aren't the levees built to withstand a cat 5?Why aren't the wetlands saved? Why is it we fight poverty,homelessness,starvation.disease, everywhere which is wonderful that we do,but help for the needy is so limited here? Why is it that every change in government that was made in the 1940's and1950's has not been for the better? A few laws maybe better, but things such as caring for aged,handicapped. mentally ill, and for people in poverty have not been for the better. Why are homeless people,and mentally ill people on the street with no where to live,and nothing to eat,in the world's richest most powerful nation? Who do they feed the hungry that gritty mush ,and not some real food? Who do politicians receive so much money to do absolutely nothing about the country's problems? Maybe we could afford to help the needy if they were laid off!Why do we need them?? Why...Whyyy.... Whyyyy??

Young women in poverty are forced to find jobs in foreign countries,leaving their families to become maids and house servants.mothers of small children ,have to be away from their children,trying to escape the prison of poverty. Foreign women are at the mrcy of a stranger's heart, My heart goes out to them.

They had the highest number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the percentage was the same as this: 86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance 14% against. That is a pretty 'commanding' public response. I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't. Now it is your turn ....! It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why is the world catering to this 14%?

Newdow Files Suit To Take National Motto Off Currency Tells ACLU meeting "In God We Trust" must go Dear Marsha, Michael Newdow, who has already filed a suit to take "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance, is now suing to remove our national motto from our currency. Newdow told the ACLU of Oklahoma that the national motto on U.S. currency is a violation of the separation of church and state. He is offended because he is an atheist. He wants to use the Federal courts to make his atheism the official religion of America. Newdow filed in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which recently ruled that judges, not parents, have the final say in what will be taught school children concerning sex education. These same liberal judges supported Newdow and ruled that the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional. That suit was dismissed due to a technicality so Newdow sued again. The 9th U.S. Circuit is expected to agree with Newdow. The case will then go to the U.S. Supreme Court for final action. Help us secure one million signatures on the petition below to stop Newdow. Endorphines

I found it was interesting that sexual attraction which I have known for years is caused by endorphins , But what I never realized before, is that a lasting bond is also caused by a very special endorphin. I found this article very interesting. It makes me wonder if other feelings such as those who anger quickly,or have child abuse,or sexual abuse tendencies,criminals,and perhaps the attraction some people have for the same sexual gender,etc have endorphins that cause that or perhaps defected ones.Are endorphins the reason for our behavior,and reactions? It is not made clear to the people that Medicaid/Medicare , that although they are often encouraged to have managed health care, they is a limit to the visits, and than the person on a fixed low income, is required to pay for the dr. visit, about $50.00 out of pocket expense. that is often a surprise, for a low income person, it can be a very major blow to their finances. while being encouraged to keep managed health care, going to the dr for long term care, than finding out , that they have to pay the bill, from their small income. A income that does not fully cover a comfortable life as it is. Average income for a person of low income is $603.00 a month.

Ode to a Star I admire Marilyn Monroe and sometime feel as if her and I are alike any many ways, Not everyone sees Marilyn 'the true Marilyn, beyond the sex symbol and beautiful woman, was a woman that had insight,intellect, and a passion for people, She understood the need to feel special, and her wish was that everyone felt their special uniqueness, and that others would see the special qualities in everyone. Her quote ,Everyone is a star, and deserves the right to shine, gives a beautiful light and insight to a very beautiful woman,with great depth. I identify with her need for love, her insight,intellect, and a passion for people, her special uniqueness and her deep hidden depth that no one knew, The world didn't truly know Marilyn Monroe , She was a bright star. 'The Brightest Star' I watched you shine from afar, The brightest star, I wonder where you are, A voice of poetic verse, A lover's curse, A woman that feels the hurts, never finding what you searched for, Never realizing how bright shined your star, Where ever you are, You are a legend of time , Some never saw your beauty, for they were blind, You inspire the stars to shine. Our legacy

Our legacy will be what we leave behind,
Waste or attempts to improve our environment.
It's not entirely up to government or environmental professionals.
It's also up to us, to decide to to care for our environment,
One person can start a fire that will burn a forest, or plant seeds to grow one.
How can we possibly think of throwing trash somewhere , that has beauty beyond a painting?
We need to start at home, and soon we'll see our world returning to a place that will be a inheritance, to the future generations,
A wealth that should be cherished.

Education-School of hard knocks'

Yes I'm uneducated, maybe, lacking a formal education, but the education of life is a learning experience that never ends. Writers and poets of thoughts,and feelings of hearts, may not always possess a formal education, but they possess insight to feelings, which is a very powerful tool of teaching. Never sell yourself short, Every person not only has the capacity to learn, but also has something of life to teach others. Each thought shared is a door of knowledge opened to someone. We can all learn from each other's experiences and feelings,if they are shared. Mistakes can be avoided by knowing of the consequence others have endured, But usually people have to make their own mistakes, and feel their own experiences, It's part of life's lessons too. But those who love to write,and have a gift,will always persist in trying to convey life's experiences, and mistakes to help others journey in life be safer, as we continue trying to remove the stones that are stumbled on,so others will have a smoother easier path. If the adjective or verb, noun or pro noun isn't quite right, or the "I" isn't dotted, and the "t" isn't crossed, Look past the cover ,read between the lines, and you may find great depth in the message.

I hate double standards,where guys and society think everything a man does is ok, but a woman that does the same thing is looked down on,a guy might take part in the same activity with her, and than look down on her as though she isn't worthy of his time, and would not date her marry her.

Double Standards Today in America there still exists a double standard. What is expected of a woman and a man in today's society. As a single woman I have noticed that the opinions are not that much different today as they were in the past eras. As a example; If a woman chooses to go to a night club alone, She is seen as a woman with low morals, Not true of a man in the same scenario, Let's go any further. If a single woman chooses to engage in a sexual relationship she is looked upon also as a woman with low morals. The man in the same scenario is not stereotyped. A woman is expected to have no physical relationship unless she marries, but not all women marry. Many people do not realize that in today's society, any type of sexual relationship for a single woman is still not condoned,but is for a man. Men often will seek a single woman to have sex, and turn around and believe she isn't good enough for him, because she did. But the same man believes it was alright for him to have sex in the same situation. There is a lack of understanding for the single woman's life, which is possibly very lonely, But better than being in a unhappy marriage. It seems that it's time society changes the double standard that has been a oppression for women,not treating them as a man';s equal. People say what is good for the goose,is good for the gander, but in actuality it's not true. When a woman does the same things in life, she is treated different and with a lack of respect. All the rules of society are basically coming from men's ideas. I don't know why society accepts these ideas,when men were born from,and raised by women. Women should be teaching their sons that a woman is as equal and as human as a man,not more or less. This opinion society has gives women low self esteem and a lack of self respect,because they feel physical needs, Physical needs are a part of human nature and there is no reason a woman should be ashamed of her own femininity, and her own feelings. A man wants a woman to be sexy, and than when she is, he looks down on her,as if she isn't good enough to marry, or be seen with. It makes a woman wonder ,what does a man really want? And who invented double standards, and when will they cease to exist.

What is this double standard we teach? Where a woman is put down, But a man can be a man, What ever that means, When they are both lonely, He's just a man, But she is of no morals it seems. He 'll go to her bed, But he won't been seen with her, People will put her down, But they think what he does is ok, He's just being a man. Listen to what they say, It doesn't make sense to me, She has a woman's natural feelings, He looks for her, and wants her that way, Than he turns his back. As if it's something she should be ashamed of, Being a woman. The women that are alone, are expected to live a certain way, They have feelings and desires, That nature made. Just like a man, They have needs too. But it's alright for a man, But for a woman society says it's wrong. They shut their eyes, and are blind, To the way a man lives. But when a woman gives her body without her heart,, Fills the physical needs, She is looked down on. We have taught a double standard of life, That needs to be changed, Women have the same needs, and are not always able to find the right person to be married to, and nothing causes more unhappiness than to be married to the wrong person for any reason. Arranged marriages is also wrong. Having a person's life planned for them without their feelings,thoughts, or desires. Without love. How can any one arrange another person's life for them? I'm not sure how the world's society comes up with the ideas of life. but it causes a lot of unhappy people.

The tragedy of Drugs and Abuse

I was asked by the grandmother to write this story in hopes that it may someday help someone and avoid another tragedy such as this one.

I'm not sure where to begin, Maybe the day of the wedding, I looked out of my window, from my upstairs apt, and saw the small wedding celebration in the little park area of the apt. The bride was beautiful,smiling, the couple seemed like the perfect couple with the happily ever after future, who would ever imagine the horror, and the nightmare that would follow.

When they first married , they had one little girl who was close to 2 years old at the time of the wedding. My neighbor was wheel chair bound, the grandmother of the children.

The mother Tina's life was totally evolved around her children. She always arranged baseball games, in the baseball field at the school behind the apt,complex for all of the children in the apt complex,and town. Tina and her children were loved by all who knew them.

Her daughter Hailey won beauty contests, was a honor roll student, and loved sports. a very beautiful child who like her mother, never met a stranger.and had a very soft heart.

During the marriage another beautiful child was born. Brooke was also a very beautiful baby, just learning to walk, and developing her own personality. Somewhere along the way , The husband heavily involved in drugs, and with mentally problems,he became abusive. Reggie was possessive,insanely jealous, and enraged.

In Jan of 2000 The husband Reggie beat his wife Tina severely, Tina was taken to the hospital. Tina became very frightened . Tina stayed often with her mother, with the children. The children were her life. During this period of time, Tina had a restraining order against him.

I saw Reggie parked outside of Tina's mother's, and I was told that Reggie tried to commit suicide, and was stopped,
but he was never helped to deal with the drug abuse, and insanity.

It was around o'clock am on a very cold morning, when I heard the sirens, I will never forget the chilling feeling. My niece called to see if something happened, in my family,and she mentioned a woman in the wheel chair, my heart seemed to break, I knew in my heart what happened. I had years of a abusive situation. and the signs were there, how close I had often came to having the same heartache,

The restraining order was of no consequence, As he burned her house down in Marion. and went to Sterlington to where she and the children were at her mother's house. Reggie broke into the living room window, Tina in the bedroom with the children ran out concerned for her mother's safety.

As she ran out, Reggie ran into the bedroom where the children were, and locked the door, The children screamed, Hailey about 7 said daddy don't please don't, Tina ran to a neighbor's to call 911.

The grandmother in horror, wheelchair bound felt helpless, as the little girl cried, Reggie took the little girl, named Hailey, a beautiful little dark haired, brown eyed little girl, frightened,as placed her screaming on his lap, and shot her in the head, and than shot the baby girl, who was frightened and crying. He than shot his self.

As the police came in with a shotgun, they were too late, blood covered the floor, Reggie still alive,unable to speak, he had shot his self in the throat. He ended his life, leaving Tina's heart forever broken. Her life only a living shadow, Her life shattered, living now to hold their memory, and to be here for her mother, living but death stole her heart. Reggie left her to live with a pain. and heartache for greater than death its self. When I look not into the deep darkness of Tina's eyes, the eyes that were once filled with life, or now only filled with tears, too many to cry,and pain and heartache.

This story is wrote for those who are in abusive situations. Don't wait until it's too late, to seek help. Know that a restraining order is not always enough protection. This story is also to remind those who have children. and have mental and drug problems, to seek help. If there is a possibility of this story becoming yours, seek help at once!
